Someone is going to grossly overpay for Norman. Might as well be the Redskins.
Norman probably feels he had the best year he's capable of having or will probably be injured again. Time to cash in white he can.

Time to cash in white he can. But it wasn't Norman who walked away from his deal. The team just took the tag away and let him walk. He's 26 years old, if he did go to Washington, it's not like Snyder is signing a guy in his mid 30s and on his last legs. Really, it doesn't matter what he gets per year, its all fluff. People look at the guaranteed money.

Not saying itd be a dumb signing, but theres a really good chance he just had the best season hes going to have. and if carolina thought he was going to be such an atrocious headache in the locker room that it was worth just getting rid of him they probably agree with that

Josh Norman's $50 million guaranteed is the 15th-most in the NFL, seventh-highest among defensive players, and most among defensive backs.

It'll be interesting as the Week 15 Monday Night game that has my Carolina Panthers go to DC to play the Washington Redskins was going to be the game I may go to as I live in the DC area.

Thank Zod the Niners didn't sign him. That is way too much money to pay for Norman.

Httr
I think it was a good aqquisition but you're right it may have been too much of a price. I'm just happy he gets to meet Beckham jr twice a year.

Let the Odell-Norman wars continue.
Good show. Norman is just enough of a scumbag to don the Burgundy and Gold. See: Hall, DeAngelo.

After taking a night to think about it, I'm OK with the money that Washington gave Josh Norman. No player on the defensive side of the ball can impact a game quite like a true shutdown cornerback. Not a pass rusher or a middle linebacker or run-stuffing interior lineman.
Look at Richard Sherman or Darrelle Revis. When they're out there, they essentially cut off half of the field. Quarterbacks won't even look their way because they don't want to throw the ball anywhere near them. Is Josh Norman at that level right now? Maybe not, but he's 28 years old and in his prime, coming off of a season in which he was a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year. That reputation will follow him into the 2016 season and quarterbacks will be less likely to put the ball on his side of the field out of the fear of what he could do.
For that alone, he's worth what he's being paid. If he takes this contract and gets fat and happy and regresses and becomes target practice for quarterbacks, then it was obviously a horrible deal. But if he lives up to it and becomes that Sherman/Revis/Patrick Peterson type of elite shutdown cornerback, he's worth every single penny of that $50 million guaranteed.

I don't really care about how overpaid Norman is. I'm more excited about his future matchups with Dez and OBJ twice a year.

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports Josh Norman's deal with the Redskins is really for two years, $36.5 million.

My favorite draft prospect is Kevin Hogan from Stanford.
I was particularly impressed the time he threw 10 TD passes in the final minute to beat USC on two torn ACLs, brother!
