I think they took the footage that they had ready and shoved it on the Network to help prevent people from canceling as viewership on RAW drops.

I'm not sure how much the new additions are going to entice new/retain existing customers.
Although having older and more diverse wrestling footage is good to have, I think focusing on getting the entire WWF/WCW/ECW libraries uploaded in chronological order would be more beneficial to their subscriber base.

To keep people around from Series to Rumble. It's Christmas time and I want to spend my money on other people and not for myself and the network. I watched all of the old Nitros and I started to become kind of bored with the network, I do not care about the next PPV, but always enjoy the Rumble. I could spend the $9.99 on someone else and I was going to, but since they uploaded all this new footage I will give the WWE the $9.99 . I will keep the Network until at WrestleMania. I expect them to upload more WCW Nirtos after Wrestlemania so they can keep me for a few more months.

Now that they have those gift cards available and with christmas coming up, I'm sure there will be a lot of people checking out the Network for the first time and they want to impress people. The best way to do that is show them the most expansive wrestling library they possibly can. If I'd never used the Network before and got a gift card for 3 free months and saw how much old school shit was available for me to check out plus Royal Rumble and WrestleMania coming up, I would definitely stay on as a subscriber after those 3 months. I'm pretty sure that's the reason for all the classic footage being added all of a sudden. And I'm glad they're doing it.

So the family can watch when they come over for Christmas.
"Oh you have the network? Do they have (nostalgianostalgianostalgia)? THEY DO! Let's watch! I should get this!"

I still think a big point of it now would be "Even if WWE had the video footage of World Class, AWA, and Global in their library, ESPN was holding things up by airing them on ESPN Classic and presumably standing in their way to get them on WWE's streaming service instead- so when WWE and ESPN started working together on Sportscenter, a part of the deal was 'ESPN has to let WWE Network put up the wrestling shows ESPN has the rights to'.
Combined with that, if on January 1 you suddenly see Abrams UWF make it onto the Network despite no clue of WWE buying the rights...this would be the smoking gun there.

Some of it was probably that it was finally converted to a digital format.
Since that can take forever since every time I've ever had to transfer tape to digital it has to be done in real time.
also the christmas stuff.

I like how no one voted they wanted us to be happy I think we've all learned these last couple of years that is the last thing they seem to care about.

This is what o expected the network to be like from the beginning.
Then it wasn't and I was hoping they were waiting for some inexplicable reason and they finally would add all of this.
It wasn't that long ago we were all assuming the subscribers by and large didn't care about the old stuff and I complained the network was just a promotional tool for new product.
I just hope it lasts.

It's nice to have the older stuff but the only thing that bugs me is the change of music, especially with the ECW Hardcore TV stuff. I just mute and watch with subtitles.

I disagree EXCEPT for Enter Sandman and Natural Born Killaz. While Sandman's dub theme is OK in itself, but does sadly lose the aura of the entrance, New Jack's dub theme is awful, even when played in the ghetto.

On at least one MidSouth show they referenced JYD coming out to "Another one bites the dust." They had to change it to an instrumental Debarge tribute.

They are desperate to add "new" content to the Network and this was the best they could do.

Vince, Trips, and Steph hearing the requests of everyone added the content to the Network as a Christmas present to Tyson Kidd. Now, nobody in the WWE has to give Tyson a present ever again.

How much of a song can be played before u have to pay royalties? If there are rules, WWE doesn't care. A couple seconds is enough for WWE to remove it. However, there are oversights by the editors at times, and music that should be cut stays intact. Sometimes, it gets fixed (the March 1986 Saturday Night's Main Event had "We Are the Champions" for the Dream Team's entrances left intact when it was originally uploaded but has since been changed), while other times it doesn't.
