I'm actually tempted to watch his Hocus Pocus video to see just how bad it is.

Watched his Event Horizon thing - decided never to watch any of his stuff again. Glad to see I'm not missing anything worth my time.

I've gotten to the point where i only watch if im interested in whats being reviewed (of course, thats the case for most of them on the site, including cinema snob, rocked reviews, and linkara as well, though i do make a point to watch all the videos by Todd in the Shadows).

I didn't think it was that bad... while I do miss some of the stuff from the older days of the Nostalgia Critic, I can't help but admit that the videos look a hell of a lot better now. And I don't really mind all of the skits, although I fully admit some can be rather hit-or-miss.
As for the subject of the review... you know, I wouldn't mind Christmas with the Kranks if it didn't go out of its way to make Tim Allen's character seem unreasonable for not wanting to go through with all of the crap surrounding the holiday. Instead, they made him the villain from the very beginning, and the second half of the movie being dedicated to kicking him down just made it worse. Oh no, he wants to follow through on the plans he made for the holiday! Quick, shit all over him! Bad man! SELFISH!
And it's been on SO GODDAMN OFTEN THIS YEAR OH MY GOD SHOW ANOTHER MOVIE. JUST NOT ELF, BECAUSE THAT'S BEEN AIRED TO DEATH, TOO.

I wish he could find some middle ground. Additionally, the videos just get bloated. I am willing to bet he could have said in 25-30 minutes what he said here, he needs to trim himself down more.

In terms of the big names, Doug, Linkara, Brad, Nash, and Todd are basically it. Lindsay left, as did Phelous, Lupa, and a bunch of other people. I've basically stopped checking the site entirely; I get Todd's stuff from his Youtube page, Brad, Nash, and SF Debris from their own sites, and don't really watch anyone else who's still with them.

The Walkers aren't good comedy writers. They can be good with observational humor (particularly that of pop culture), but when it actually comes to actual comedy, they almost always fall flat. It was true in the days of Melvin: Brother of the Joker, it was true with Demo Reel, and it is certainly true now in Demo Reel II: Starring Nostalgia Critic. What the Walkers find funny is usually stuff that ultimately doesn't resonate that well with viewers, especially their new stuff. Especially since they don't allow for their work to be filtered with other people before they put it out for the world to see. it's usually why the episodes they hype as their funniest yet are often met with the most disdain. Sometimes I wonder if Rob has a huge part in the skits become more prominent. He just seems like somebody who wouldn't give a shit about what the audience actually likes. I could see him constantly whispering to Doug to keep going the skit route.

I guess it sort of gets a pass in that it's a highly nostalgic property, but still, this strikes me as a purely financial decision. Does he not have those Hobo reviews anymore for him to do recent films?

He does and he and Rob already reviewed Force Awakens, but they'd reviewed Jurassic World before the Nostalgia Critic episode on it too.

Looks like the first review of Jan could be Force Awakens Just do the reviews and call it something other than "Nostalgia Critic." Same style, same character, different name. It's beyond a joke now. The f****** movie just released Friday in the U.S. It's only nostalgic if you're Dory from Finding Nemo. Oh no....don't tell me I just gave him the idea to review Finding Dory on it's release week.

This is very true especially with this video where he makes a point to say that the movie just goes on and on and on, when his videos, including this one, go on and on long past the natural stopping point.

Looks like the first review of Jan could be Force Awakens And everyone will hate it and Doug will be confused how anyone can hate his creative genius. It's clear he's not caring about viewer options so why should we expect the same from him? If I knew this is how things were going to go, he would have been better off leaving the Nostalgia Critic name dead. It would have been better to leave on a good note than doing this.

Looks like the first review of Jan could be Force Awakens Well if he's going to do what we think he's going to do, then he should mix things up a bit like have Malcolm play Rey and Tamera play Finn. It most likely won't make it better but it will follow one of the basic tenants of comedy in subverting the audience's expectations.
