I love this movie. Probably my favorite of the franchise. Empire Strikes back is a close second.

The only prequel I can comfortably rewatch.
As a kid I wanted to see the Jedi Extermination, which always sounded so scary and cruel to me (and thus, still unseen, it was fascinating). This movie finally gave me that.
Loved Ian McDiarmid chewing every scene he was in (the rise of Palpatine was THE best part of the prequels), that opening space battle, the Godfather homage on Mustafar (interlacing Palpy's Empire speech with the Separatists executions), the utter creepiness of the opera scene (featuring the one great reason to justify midichlorians), the music, and - though many hate it - the flinch of that lightsaber in front of the padawans.

It has its moments. The Battle of Coruscant, McDiarmid and McGregor's performances, and the score are all great.
That's about it for me though.

The "Scene setting" with Padme looking towards the smouldering Jedi Temple was a thing a beauty.
I know there's a term for that but I can't remember it off the top of my head. The mix of music and imagery was very powerful. Is that what they call cinematography?

I enjoyed the score from "Revenge of the Sith" especially during the Order 66 scene. Every lightsaber battle in this film was also a thrill to watch.

Haven't seen it in a while, but I remember it being the best of the Prequels by far, and just about on par with Return of the Jedi. I think New Hope & Empire are better, but it's still a solid movie.

"This is how freedom ends...with thunderous applause". I actually love the prequels for their political commentary and this line just encapsulates everything.

Hands down my favorite of the prequel trilogy. "Execute order 66" is an epic moment in the franchise as a whole IMO.

Just watched it again last night. It's so good. Obi-Wan's heartbreak after the fight with Anakin kicked me right in the gut.

The best prequel movie which is damning with faint praise.
The acting and dialogue are just as bad as anywhere else in the series, punctuated with the now infamous NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Anakin's fall to the dark side and Palpatine's manipulation of him was about as subtle as a sledgehammer, as was the political commentary throughout.
Ewan McGregor was really amazing as Obi Wan. The Order 66 sequence was cool, as were some of the battles, but it just was completely devoid of any emotional weight whatsoever. The whole prequel trilogy really was a story that was far more interesting left in the imagination, framed by vague references in the original trilogy.
Overall I'd rank them
Empire Strikes Back A New Hope Return of the Jedi Revenge of the Sith The Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones
The original trilogy would shuffle positions depending on when you asked me. The Vader/Luke lightsaber fight at the end of Jedi is probably my favorite moment in the whole saga.
Obligatory reference to the Red Letter Media review of this

I love it, aside from "Nooooooooo!" and Padme dying before Leia could remember her.
Also, they could have used a Jedi ghost of Qui-Gon to help with the Jedi ghost explanation at the end. There were also a lot of good deleted scenes with Yoda arriving on Dagobah and the formation of the rebellion that they could have kept.
Overall though, it's my second favorite behind Empire.

Like I've said, this movie with A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back are the best trilogy in the series.

"Not to worry - we are still flying half a ship!"
The opening rollercoaster space battle. The argument in the elevator. Just plain how damn good (and quick) both McGregor and Christensen are with those lightsabers. Dooku's small but important presence to show how Anakin has grown. How, apart from Anakin killing Dooku, the first 20 minutes or so are very much "these are the heroes and everything will work out fine" vibe (and even with that a new viewer could expect a 'hero realises it was wrong' journey instead of what ends up happening instead). The opera scene. The last goodbye between Anakin and Obi-Wan on Coruscant before it all goes south. McDiarmid being able to run the range from sinister to threatening to power-drunk to axe crazy. Obi-Wan vs Grievous, precision vs speed. The wordless and intense 'ruminations' scene between Anakin and Padme. All of the Order 66 sequence. Yoda and Obi-Wan's deep bewildered sorrow as they slowly piece together what's happened at the Jedi Temple. The final duel, the aftermath and the final sequences for Padme's funeral, the Empire's rise and the hiding of the twins. Just how damn horrible it really is to be Darth Vader, kicking against the cool badass iconography. And, yet again, John Williams on top form.
There are flaws, but I love Revenge.

Revenge is my 3rd favorite Star Wars movie overall. After just rewatching all six I could make an argument that it's 2nd. I won't damn it with fake praise and just say I legitimately find it to be good, even with its clear flaws.
Before the Yoda/Palpatine fight ends .. kind of awkwardly, Yoda gives me two of my favorite lines of the movie.
"At and end your rule is ... and not short enough it was."
"If so powerful you are, why leave?"

I really liked Haydens work in this one. Whenever he just used his facials expressions he nailed the part and the character he is portraying as he is running down the slippery slope into madness. His cold dead stares and even when after killing off the Separatists when he was standing and you could see him tearing up that was the legitimate look of a man knowing what he has done, contemplating that it wasn't right because he is blinded thinking that this was the only way to keep the last shred of happiness from leaving him he was going to do whatever it takes to keep it. Even if it means doing terrible things. He really nailed it and at that point he no longer was Anakin Skywalker as he had become Darth Vader. Sure the Emperor gave him the name before he went and killed the Jedis but i feel it was this scene that he accepted his fate and "killed" the Anakin Skywalker part of him and ultimately chose to be Darth Vader. Even Padme said "I don't even know you anymore" as she could tell he had become this monster and was trying to find the last bits of who he really was but once Obi-Wan stepped out all of his feelings against Obi just further cemented his path to the Dark Side

You know what I love? Obi-Wan actually defeats Darth Vader. He didn't have the heart to finish the job (or maybe assumed he burned to death, but I have trouble buying that) but he actually defeated the evil Sith like a hero would. Granted, it was just a vehicle to get Anakin in the suit, but I've always appreciated that they allowed Obi-Wan to defeat him in battle.
