Maybe I exaggerate, but honestly, if you have not seen it (two seasons, both have 10 1-hour episodes), jump on it.
Everything about this show is incredible. From the actors' play, to the score, from the cinematography to the story itself - the showrunners hit on all cylinders.
WOW.

What's the connection to the movie, exactly? I've meant to check this out.

Some episodes are a full 60 minutes, some are more typical 44-50 minutes. Great series. Season 2 is IMO the better season. A great cast, but Patrick Wilson and Ted Danson stand even above them.

I absolutely loved both seasons. I really doubted that season two could be as good as the first, but it really blew me away. I think some people found the finale understated, but it fit. So many good characters in season 2.

It really was a thing of beauty and should continue to be. I had a problem with it though. {Spoiler}The twist of Hanzee winding up to be Moses Tripoli was too much for me to take. The excuse of facial reconstructive surgery to explain Hanzee's transition to an Italian mob boss from Season 1 looks like a totally slapped together last second premise. Barring that the storytelling is nearly perfect, they line things up to where you root for the good guys, hate all the bad guys and you trust the fact that this show will kill anybody on a whim, thus the drama is extremely high. The soundtrack is amazing at times, like their use of War Pigs in one of the later episodes gave me goosebumps, as well as Jeff Wayne's "The Eve of the War" that they played during the end credits of an episode were both really powerful choices.

Any show that lets Colin Hanks show that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree is good with me. He is a criminally underrated actor.

Haven't watched Season 2 yet, but thought Season 1 was brilliant. Probably my favourite show of 2014, however I still haven't gotten around to watching Season 1 of True Detective

Season 2 may have been the most tension filled show I've ever watched. The writing, pacing and everything else was top notch and even the ending was very well done. Makes my formerly favorite show (TWD) look like shit in comparison.

Yeah, was a little weird. {Spoiler}I half expected him to be Lorne Malvo. Also, upon mentioning who he was, my mum pointed out that the two kids he was watching were Mr Numbers & Mr Wrench.

Just pure random nonsense?

What was the point of that f***in' UFO?! Just pure random nonsense? {Spoiler}They showed several hints/glimpses of UFOs throughout the season but yeah it was still weird and seemed to have nothing to do with the rest of the show.

Just pure random nonsense? {Spoiler}I'm fine with the UFO because they'd been teasing it since the start and is one of those absurd conveniences like the fish storm in Season 1. The Hanzee thing just felt like a really contrived way to tie the seasons together when they already did well enough at that via the the Solverson family story.
