They had a good gimmick for him, as a tea party militant and it was culturally relevant at the time. Had they expanded it, and recruited new members, it could have been a formidable faction, but that Glenn Beck bullshit derailed them. Instead of breaking character, they should have run with it and had Zeb and Jack accuse Beck of being a "bleeding heart liberal".

It will be a truly sad day when they finally split. Let's not encourage WWE to speed things up. Swags can be mentor/coach to them.

My best guess as to who would be I don't care how small people might perceive him to be, but man, he just LOOKS like a world champion. He's got a good build, the classic old-school haircut, great attire, and a handsome face that isn't too pretty where it'll relegate him to some vanity gimmick. If he was 6'2 he would be elevated to the top of the card immediately.

My best guess as to who would be Other than being an guy in a singlet with an amateur background, there is nothing similar about Swagger and Gable. Swagger is an "American hero" while Gable is a phenomenal, but kinda dorky athlete obsessed with his catchphrase.

It's baffling because he's over. The fans have wanted to cheer for him since the Rusev feud. Surely it's common to push him. I went to a house show a few months back and the folks there popped hard for Swagger the second his music hit, did the "We the People!" thing, and all that. I was surprised.

I really did like Swagger but the stupidity and danger of driving while high (I think he was and not just caught with drug possession) when he was given a second chance just turned me off on him. Yea people do dumb/dangerous shit in wrestling like get DUI or awful things like domestic abuse but if you are a guy low on the totem pole who was given another big chance and punted it like he did, yea no sympy from me.

The pot bust rules out Japan I assume? Shame if so, he could reinvent himself as a gaijin bullyboy character, mic skills not needed and probably best place (outside of WWE) for money.

It doesn't help that his haircut makes him look like a sex offender.

I don't think it was a felony so he wouldn't be stopped by the US. I know Japan is strict on that though. As for Swagger, it is weird, I should like the guy. Good look, good wrestler, and not marbled mouthed on the mic but there is just something missing, something that just makes him hard to like. Now as for his current booking, wasn't it rumored he was leaving WWE when his deal expires? If so I could see him getting moved from Superstars to job on RAW to try and kill his value to other companies.

I'm guessing Sgt Slaughter and Jim Duggan are now too old to trot out to job to the foreign heels so it's now Swagger's spot.

Literally the second the ref counted three Swagger had a permanent frown on his face onwards. It went completely against his character from his debut up to that point.

They definitely get caught in a cookie cutter mentality a lot. They see what worked with someone else, and assume that the next guy or guys need to emulate that. Really toxic mentality in any creative field.

Given his overness and the easy pop of his gimmick, there is no reason beyond the inability of the creative team to write a whole roster competently that Swagger can't be a solid lower midcard face using his patriot gimmick to curtain jerk and get a crowd happy. Instead of being pulled up from purgatory just get kicked by Del Rio a whole bunch. For a nothing jobber who hasn't mattered in forever, he is way too over for them to do literally nothing with.

He could stop injuring people. That'd help. Swagger "injuring" people was usually some "shit happens" moment. If he were that bad, the whole roster would be in traction.
