We're always praising and loving heenan on here so lets flip the coin. Are there any rare moments where heenan didn't seem that entertaining or annoyed you a tiny bit?
How bout the opening match at rumble 92, the first 2-3 shots he takes at anvil are good but 15 mins into the match he really goes into overkill with "the guys nuts! The guys nuts! The guys nuts!"
Also it kills me to say it but I was really disappointed with his DVD, it wasn't that fun to watch for me.
Didn't watch WCW but I've heard his last days there were a mess.

WCW's going to have a number of these, due to a number of factors, though I still think no one could have called the ending to Goldberg vs Hogan as perfectly as he did. He really did sell it as seeing his nemesis finally facing karma in his eyes.

I've noticed him mouthing what the other one is saying during promos, like when he's interviewing Flair or talking to Piper on the "Funeral Parlor" with Paul Bearer.

Heenan was always getting ripped apart in Power Slam in 1999 for awful quotes and calls. His timei n commentary had passed him by by this point. He would later state himself he had no passion for the WCW product past 1997.

"Whose side is he on?!"
Made sense due to his Hogan hatred, but in retrospect tarnishes a historic moment a little bit.

Hog Wild 96 is a pretty bad moment overall, as you can just hear him getting more and more soused as the evening progresses, to the point of the main event, where he's barely coherent.

His wcw run, and not just near the end. To me he made wcw, along with Hogan and others feel stale and outdated, especially in 95 to spring 96.
Also he never looked quite right in glasses, okerlund wore glasses too in wcw.......I dont know what was with wcw and their fetish of people wearing glasses.

While I generally love Heenan, a lot of the racist jokes he made felt dated even back in the early 90's.

"Whose side is he on?!" Made sense due to his Hogan hatred, but in retrospect tarnishes a historic moment a little bit. I've always heard that Heenan honestly didn't know the turn was coming. Even then, I don't think it hurts the moment at all. Maybe it's because I've heard so much of the current bunch of idiots who hold your hand through everything, but wrestling commentary is hardly subtle most of the time even at the best of times. By the same logic, one could say that Gorilla's "YOU CAN KISS IT GOODBYE BRAIN! NO ONE'S EVER COME IN THIS EARLY AND LASTED TO THE END!" during Flair's entrance ruined the 92 Rumble in hindsight.

He would later state himself he had no passion for the WCW product past 1997. Dave Meltzer was pretty brutal on him too, him and Piper he'd call out for making references to pop culture from the '70s and back. It's hard to think of any really bad stuff as he always tried...but going out with a whimper in 2000 WCW was awful (but not his fault of course). His health state now is pretty sad too.

The "debate" he had with Ken Patera. Heenan was a heel but he came off more as a face during that segment. Also, he legitimately got hurt and it was the beginning of his neck problems.

Heenan was either halfassing it, or flat out drunk through his WCW run. I know it's cool to say 'Oh well the product was terrible so no wonder he didn't try', but he didn't make things any better, he made no attempt to and that is all on him. Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay had to call the same product and deal with more interference through the earpiece, yet they acted like professionals to the bitter end while Heenan just turned up and did whatever for far more money, there's no wonder Schiavone seemed legitimately agitated by him at times.

Well that was because it was a bad Patera moment. I forgot how bad he was until I went back a few years ago and watched it again.

I wonder what would've happened if Bobby had fought back against Brian Pillman. If he had been angry enough to curse on live tv, perhaps he could've gotten physical. If Brian had tripped and fallen or something to the like, the Loose Cannon character would've been done before it started.

I honestly think he's extremely overrated in general on this forum as a broadcaster. Maybe I was spoiled by Jesse but I always preferred the action to be taken more seriously instead of the banter that accompanied a significant portion of the matches Heenan called. I'd say he's considerably below Ventura and Heyman on the color commentator hierarchy.

Heenan is a guy who worked better when doing WWF jobber squash shows, where only one person needed to get over and his partner could work around his banter.

Bobby Heenan trying to insult somebody, but failing to remember what a swimming pool is called so he takes a good five seconds just moving his hands in a circle at Halloween Havoc 1995.
