She's not merely a bad heel: she's proving utterly toxic to the product and needs to go _now_. Seriously, she is one of the main reasons why WWE's fortunes are flagging. I don't care at this point if she never gets her comeuppance; she just needs not to be a factor on WWE TV ever again.

Has never really gotten her comeuppance, which while it's partly due to the WWE's "no violence against women" policy, essentially limited the only instances were her drinking spiked coffee and being thrown into a mud pit. And even then, she wasn't thrown into the mud after already having won the match and fired Vickie. Basically, the bad guy won the battle and war, and the good guy got one more or less pointless cheap shot in.

She's usually good but has been way over these top the last few weeks. Very cartoony.

Dixie Carter was supposed to be the top heel in TNA at one point. So, the answer to the OP is a resounding "no." did you miss the part where she actually allowed herself to look flawed, then ggot her comeuppance? Comparatively, Dixie is Shawn Michaels and Steph is Buddy Stetcher

Like her husband, she doesn't understand that there's more to being a heel than getting boos from the live crowds, the ultimate purpose of a heel in wrestling is to make people want to pay to see them get beat and to make the face look like a million bucks, which they just don't.
The Divas, the only people who could lay a finger on Stephanie in the PG era are portrayed as so far beneath her it's unreal, she killed the Bellas angle before she could receive her logical comeuppance and when they introduced some rising stars to the division she made it all about her, an act of generosity on her part and now they're no better off than the talent that was already there. People say her husband is more generous, but ignore the fact that for the decade previous he had all the faces licking his boots and on the rare occasion they did win, he would smirk and shrug it off. People don't care if he wins or loses anymore because he's shown that whatever happens, he's not going away for good, give it a few months and the same old garbage will resume with him and his godawful wife being the heart of the show because no other heels are allowed to be that strong, unless they're paying them millions for 20 dates a year. People want to blame Vince for everything bad yet a stream of former writers have said that Hunter effectively books himself on the main show, when he gets a script anything he dislikes is gone before the day of the show, replaced with something that benefits him.
The McMahon family as a whole are the worst heels in wrestling at this point, they've been rolling as the biggest heels in the company for nearly 2 decades now, longer than the Horsemen, 4-5 times longer than the nWo. It has made the company nearly unbookable because the company is the McMahon family and has been the biggest on screen heel longer than many of the audience have been alive, anyone who smells like they're hand picked will face an uphill battle because they're tainted by association with the company, which is a ridiculous notion, but so is having a non wrester emasculating people without any hope of comeuppance.

Task Performance Checklist for Pro Wrestling Heel:
Does the heel get heat?
Does the heel use logic as part of their persona?
Does the heel appear to be a constant threat?
Are babyface wrestlers enhanced in the story by the heel's actions?
Is the heel believable?

Count me in as someone who thinks that woman is absolutely toxic on the screen, and is precisely the reason why I can't watch anymore. Actually, there are more reasons (HHH's ego, the shaking camera with every punch, the scripted interviews, etc.)
I feel so strongly about this I was compelled to sign up for an account here just to voice my displeasure with this terrible character/person. She does not sell tickets, nor does she bring in ratings. Nobody buys a ticket to a wrestling show and says: "Oh man, I can't wait to see what the authority has in store for us tonight!" I never understood why people buy tickets to RAW, who wants to sit in a hockey arena for 3 hours to watch people talk?
Anyway, Vince coming back once a year as a surprise is good. HHH introducing NXT, that's good too. Stephanie McMahon slapping guys, that's TERRIBLE television, no matter what the reason is, it's just bad. Sometimes I'll turn it on hoping to see Lesnar or Ambrose or even Reigns. But then she comes on and I immediately turn it off. And the Rock means... IMMEDIATELY.

Are babyface wrestlers enhanced in the story by the heel's actions? Is the heel believable? Let's go through them... Does Steph get heat? Yes, yes she does. Whether it's the "I want to pay to see her get put in her place" heat or "PLEASE GOD GET OFF OF MY SCREEN" heat is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. Logic? Not really. If Steph IS so powerful, she can strip Reigns of the title and make sure her handpicked people are wearing titles. Steph DOES appear to be a constant threat, but moreso in the "screeching harpy that needs to shut up" threat, not in the "she can do something to you" way. Babyfaces are in no way, shape, or form enhanced. They can never even really verbally retaliate, and certainly can't physically. They end up looking dopey at the end of it all. I can believe Steph is a horrific person in real life, so I guess she is believable.

Anybody who says "all heat is good heat" has no right to ever criticise Vince Russo's booking. It's the exact same logic as "Hey you're talking about it 15 years later so it did its job".
I dislike the way some of the GoT characters are being handled, enough that I'm not really interested in their segments. That isn't "good heat", even if they're villains.
A good villain is someone you love to hate. A bad villain is someone you hate to watch.

A test: if she turned babyface full-fledged and did all of the things you want/need on your screen to like a character, would you like her?
The answer for me is still to get off my screen and quit hogging screen time, you uppity and misplaced hack of a so-called wrestling character.

Her character would be the same, she would just be doing it to bad guys--some of whom probably don't really have it coming.

They don't get it. They'll never get it. It's ego-driven booking featuring a woman who cannot differentiate between her real life and on-screen persona. This is the only way they know how to book. Over the last few years, they've had about a month without the evil authority figure and they booked wrestlers to claim the company was out of control and thus needed them back. It's shit. It undermines booking in general, and is detrimental to everyone.

1997 - 1999: Stone Cold is kicking the authority's ass every week, McMahon, Patterson, Brisco, ass whoopin' every week, people going apeshit crazy, t-shirt sales, ratings and buyrates explode through the roof.
Wrestlemania 17: Stone Cold joins the authority, millions of people tune out, most never come back to watch wrestling again.
2015: Authority figures still present, dominating babyfaces week after week, nobody cares, ratings and buyrates as low as ever.
Conclusion: Wrestling needs more Stephanie McMahon talking segments.

Honestly the Divas ARE beneath Stephanie and if one of them got pushed to the level that the they could kick Steph's ass, they'd be presented as being above the entire women's division as a whole and segregated from it. Eve Torres and especially AJ Lee were pushed as being above the Divas to the point where winning the title was a step down for them. And notice how the Bella angle stopped being THE main focus of the show after the Nikki turn happened and Steph removed herself from their orbit.

With the Bellas angle, you could practically see the moment where she realised that the only way the angle could possibly pay off without being dumped on by the fanbase would be if she laid down for the three count and we got an ABORT! ABORT! because there can be no payoff that involves her looking bad that would in some way benefit the active roster.

I don't know what it would take for them to get her, but just having Ronda Rousey confront her when she's being the worst heel ever would do the trick. They don't have to have Ronda do anything either. Just show up, Steph shits her pants in the middle of the ring and that's it.

Had to remove a comment (and warn the poster) about hoping/wishing/theoretically thinking about a bunch of Samoans raping Stephanie McMahon.
Just going to say this right now to clear up any sort of confusion:
It is never, ever, EVER ok to express desire to see someone raped. We don't care if it's joking, we don't care if it's about an unpopular wrestler, celebrity, character, etc.
It is never ok. You will be warned for it, it will stay on your notes, and it will impact how we view you.
I'm talking from my point of view here, but I feel my fellow mods and the admins here will agree:
I don't care how much a f***ing tv character annoys you, you don't talk about that character being raped. Not when people have to deal with the utter horror of rape on a day to day basis. Not when victims, families of victims, police officers, counselors, ministers and other religious figures, etc. have to deal with the ramifications of such a vile act.
Not even going to go into the racial aspects of specifically naming Samoans.
This shit stops.
