It's an awful word, one of my former friend uses it to describe everything and everyone. I see it all over facebook and tumblr, I see it everywhere, it infuriates me so much that this word exists. Why does it exist? I hate it. I completely agree with you. It's horrendous.

My favorite old school, white term of endearment will always be Ol' lady. Sugar Pie Honey Bunch Ironically, sung by black men if I recall correctly.

"Drag her" (or "Drag him") is a more annoying piece of Twitter/Tumblr-speak to me.

Cray and Cray Cray also annoy me.
I think the problem is more that when slang gets over, it gets pushed like Cena.
It begins quietly enough. You hear the word once on TV or see it online in isolated instances. Then it gets serious and it is every third word out of yuppies that want to feel like they are "with it's" mouths.
Bae would still be terrible anyways, but it's usage isn't incidental. People actively pursue reasons to say it because they're kewl. And since most people have a significant other, that's a huge crutch to walk on.

I hate it. Why is it cool to name a loved one after an Aerospace company now?
I'm going to start calling my girlfriend Lockheed Martin instead.

Same. That and millennial are the two words I hear quite a bit and hate That's the one I'm salty about, mostly because it seems to be used for just about everybody under retirement age, what use is that? I also hate salty in the context used above.

Bae is an awesome word, screw each and every last one of you.
And I never want to hear another Cena comparison that's not related to WWE ever again. Ever.

"Drag her" (or "Drag him") is a more annoying piece of Twitter/Tumblr-speak to me. Drag isn't really "Tumblr-speak" though, nor is shade or fierce. Those terms actually came out of the LGBT subculture, as I recall.

"Bae" is derived from the Danish word for poop. So essentially when you call someone bae, you're calling them poop.

I only ever use "boo" as a sarcastic way to address my friend.
When it comes to teenage slang for partner, I prefer "hrey bb".

If you're calling your boyfriend/girlfriend bae it's lame, but calling a celebrity you fancy bae is even worse.
Calling celebrities "mom" is the peak of slang awfulness at the moment though.
