Say what? "Let me take the belt off this rising midcarder, simply because we're in a storyline together."? I mean, who benefits from Punk wasting his time with the IC title when his main focus was with Heyman? And while he didn't amount to much, Axel at least deserved a decent length title reign that wasn't ended by a superstar that showed no interest in the title to begin with. If Punk didn't want to win the title, they could've let Axel successfully retain the title against him, OR Punk and Axel shouldn't have been having matches together. Having Axel win the match would have hurt Punk's push, which was a lot more important than having some random title match that no one was particularly interested in seeing. And they had to have the match, as it was kind of the only way to continue with the Punk/Heyman feud, which was what the match was all about. And Axel benefited a lot more from being in a high profile match with Punk than being in some random heatless feud with another midcarder.
