They never erased him from existence. He's still in title histories, the WWE Encyclopedia (never took him out), on shows on the Network, and on anthology sets. They just don't mention him, but they acknowledge he existed.

Yeah, he was never removed from history.
They even mentioned im in a by the numbers thing in one of the Royal Rumbles on the website listing him as one of the people to win from #1.
They just don't advertise him or go out of their way to mention him.

They have never erased him, he has always been acknowledge where necessary and was in the WWE Encyclopedia years ago.

I know all of the above, but I feel like this is the first time since the incident that they've actually made mention of it is what I should have posted.

Has to be the first time that they've mentioned the murders though doesn't it?

I hate the word "Marks". Truly I do. But god, Benoit marks are so annoying. "LOOK! WWE FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGES CRISPINWAH! HOF! HOF! LIK IF U AGREY!" Move. On.

I don't think WWE tries to erase Benoit from history as much as they just avoid mentioning him whenever possible. This is the only time (that I recall) that they've mentioned the tragedy since it occurred.

Sometimes they try their best to edit him out of recaps (like when Orton won the title in 04, and most recently in WWE 2K16 during Austin's showcase they showed when Austin/HHH lost the tag titles to Jericho/Benoit) .
But sometimes they can't get around it like in a that one hour Best Of WCW Nitro (yep only one hour) one of the clips is The Outsiders backstage assault and Jimmy Hart going nuts, well Benoit was in the match happening at the time and as clear as day you can see him standing on the apron.. They may have muted the announcers referring to him though. Oh and the special is only a couple of years old so it was not pre murders.

We're all here trying to have a good time, there's no need for the super ultra in-the-know, "LOOK GUISE, DEY MENTIONED DA BENWAH!"

I guess people aren't reading the link when they're saying 'they never erased him from history, get over it.' Unless there's something major I missed, they studiously avoid any mention of his demise in WWE publications (certainly his encyclopedia entry makes no mention of him even being dead). This is the first time since 2007 I've seen any WWE-produced material discussing his death.

Because it's the first time since Vince opened up ECW the day after things happened that WWE has acknowledged the murders? They didn't say exactly but they alluded to them and that's the first time, that I can recall, since we got that awkward promo where Vince explained that they weren't gonna talk about him. If you ask me, there's nothing obnoxious about the thread at all but if you feel that way, maybe you should just go ahead and back out of it and not insult people?

Benoit was only ever really "erased from history" when they started editing his matches out of Classics on Demand shows, and that service ended nearly two years ago.
He's on all relevant Network content, albeit without any digital markers on his matches so they are harder to skip to, but that's about it.

I do remember a list of Royal Rumble winners on wwe.com actually had no entry for the year he won. However, this is a couple years ago so that may have changed.

Before WWE purged their (wrestling) content from Netflix they had that Shawn Michaels Wrestlemania collection. Featuring every Wrestlemania match Michaels was in... Except one. Wanna guess which one

Current policy seems to be "write around him as much as possible, but don't actively cut him out"
He was seen clear as day in one of the Monday Night Wars episodes, for example.
