In the ultimate "nothing to see here!" move, Peyton Manning has added the services of Ari Fleischer to speak on his behalf. Yes, the same Ari Fleischer who served as press secretary for former President George W. Bush. Sorry not buying that in this case. Guy was a drug peddler who was name dropping big names about their supposed use to get someone to buy his stuff. Soon as Al-Jazeera contacted him to confirm the story he recanted then and has since come out with the video recanting further. They are the ones choosing to run the story at this point with their only "witness" not confirming anything to them. If he came in with a list that included Manning, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, and Derek Jeter, then I'd be more inclined to agree. But the sheer randomness of some of these names leads me to believe there's more fire than smoke in this situation. What does it benefit him to drop names like Mike Neal, James Harrison, or Taylor Teagarden? Are people going to go to their fainting couches because Ryan Zimmerman was accused? He actually name dropped Jeter also. And Ryan Howard, and Mike Tyson, and Julius Peppers, and Clay Matthews. If you are gonna name names, don't cherry pick.

What was he taking this year? Reverse HGH?

EDIT - The way ESPN is carrying Peyton Manning's water, particularly in the aftermath of the way they dragged Tom Brady through the mud earlier this year, is absolutely laughable. Is Archie Manning on set and holding a gun behind the camera at Sunday NFL Countdown? Keyshawn: "He denied it so that means he didn't so it" Wut?

See, I'd be inclined to believe it just given how Peyton went from being questionable if he could ever play again with his neck injuries at the end of his Colts tenure to being all world with the Broncos the very next season.
I mean maybe/hopefully he didn't do anything, but it's not as if it wouldn't make sense if he had.

His career decline and recurring troubles with injuries also coincide with when the NFL started testing for HGH last October. He hasn't been anywhere near the same quarterback in the second half of 2014 or the first half of 2015.

I think there is some fire with this smoke...pretty interesting how without delving into politics, that Fletcher kept stressing the whole Al Jazeera thing more so than a denial...

The beating he took from the Rams didn't just make his age catch up to his body, it added years to his age.

The only problem I have is how much research Al Jazeera actually did in making this report. They didn't really bother examining that the whistleblower was not a pharmacist, but rather "an unpaid intern", and one guy a credible story does not usually make.
But, I would be inclined to believe it, considering that Manning really was desperate to get back to playing in 2011, and how else could you explain Manning having 3 exceptional years of football after going to Denver, where, among other things, altitude and your age can factor into your playing abilities.

Even if the veracity of this story wasn't in doubt, I really have no problems with any athlete using HGH to help heal from injury faster. After all, there's only so many years these guys can practice their craft and they should be allowed every opportunity for injuries to minimize their impact short of super-dangerous things.
I think there needs to be a better conversation about HGH and taking its usefulness into consideration for healing injuries versus using it as only a PED.

I mainly think that virtually every athlete(particularly the NFL players) is on some sort of PED so I'm not really surprised in the least that a guy like Peyton would be linked to HGH. It's not natural for the NFL guys to be that big, that strong, that fast and take the beating/recover from the beating that they take without a little bit of help.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but 2011 was the lockout season. From March to July (4 months), no player was employed by the NFL.
So how exactly can the NFL disciple a player for using an unbanned substance during a time that person wasn't working for you?
As far as I'm concerned, even if he did do it, it was unbanned, legal substance, and he had no employer. He could take whatever the hell he wanted.

Good point on the labor stoppage but the NFL has no real authority to sanction in the way they have and three straight player scandals where they didn't do dick correctly or at all (Rice, Peterson and Brady) suggest they will still do less than nothing here
My two pennies in a slanted non impartial social media inspired rant: if it was Brady they'd have broke out the torches and pitch forks.

The Huffington Post and Al Jazeera have audio and a transcript of the Guyer Institute confirming that Charlie Sly worked at the clinic in the fall of 2011. www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/al-jazeera-peyton-manning-transcript_56814cf4e4b0b958f659d99c?ncid=tweetlnkushpmg00000067My two pennies in a slanted non impartial social media inspired rant: if it was Brady they'd have broke out the torches and pitch forks. See, that's all I want: consistency. I just want the same people who blasted Tom Brady for being a cheater to do the same to Peyton Manning. I want the same people who watched Brady's press conference and called him a liar to say the same about Manning's interview on ESPN. I want the people who questioned Brady's integrity to do the same to Manning. But judging by the reactions we've already seen, primarily from some of the talking heads at the Worldwide Leader in Sports, particularly Keyshawn Johnson, Cris Carter, and Mike Ditka, we're not going to get anything near that. Brady was guilty until proven innocent. Manning is innocent until proven guilty.

I know I know...everyone picks on the poor Patriots.

Blah, blah, blah. Here comes another scandal that will be long and drawn out during the playoffs and the offseason just so ESPN can get their ratings.

Al Jazeera claims they have a second, confidential, impeccable source that HGH was shipped to Mrs. Manning,

Again I ask. Where's the allegation that Peyton Manning received and took HGH especially when the same person said “Let’s make it clear what the allegation is. The allegation in the program is very simple, that when Charlie Sly worked in the Guyer [Institute] doing part of his training . . . the clinic was sending out not one shipment but repeated shipments of growth hormone to Ashley Manning in Florida. That’s it.” Granted we have a thread for this and I wouldn't want to comment on it further here but she sure as shit backpedaled on TV. No one connected to Al-Jazeera or the report has said that Peyton Manning received and took HGH. In fact, Deborah Davies has been fairly adamant in saying that their report not once accuses Manning of using HGH. But while people might argue that Al-Jazeera is backpedaling because Davies reiterated that the documentary never accuses Manning of using HGH, she has said that HGH was sent to Manning’s wife, which Manning essentially said was true in that puff-piece interview on Sunday NFL Countdown the day after the report became public. "Any medical treatments my wife received, that’s her business. Had nothing to do with me. Nothing has been sent to her or my wife used that I have taken. Absolutely not. My treatments I do, she may have hers and that is her business." - Manning in the ESPN interview last Sunday. So while no one, from Al Jazeera to ESPN, has said "Manning used HGH", he'll still have to answer his share of questions about it. Which is what I was saying. I'm interested to see if he tackles the questions head-on or if he takes the Ray Lewis route and proselytizes and calls the reports "tricks of the devil." Eh I don't see him going that route. He's pretty much answered the questions that are gonna get asked already though so it might be fun to see them asked over and over. As a matter of fact a pissed off Manning is the best version of Manning I've seen yet since he's been in Denver, so by all means I hope they keep bugging him. Seriously though with out anything else coming out linking him directly to HGH and it's use, what questions can be asked that would require a different answer.
