Yes I admit this is true. It was better when it was fresh of course, and when the thing was more "Guess who is meant to be which character?" than "Hey, look! It's that character!" That was bound to end, but still. But...there's still hot/cute women on the show, so? ?? Ruby is mine. You can have the rest. Over my dead body...

I will never understand posts like this. No one is making you watch it now, and even if it's existence somehow magically ruins your life, the reruns will be on for many more years. It's okay to not like stuff. There are plenty of shows that I think are crap. But if other people like them and want to watch them, why should I give a shit?

This seems like it must be the most popular show about my demographic that my parents demographic watches.
I went home for Christmas and I must have been asked 5-10 times about whether I had watched the episode with Sheldon and Amy doing it.
I get that it is essentially nerd blackface, but I still think it is pretty funny most of the time.

If you are referring to Sheldon, his being autistic is a rumor/theory and is not canon in the show. He's just a smart weird dude.

Penny was a legit 9.25 - 9.5 in early seasons, she looks like she smokes a dozen cigars a day and downs a quart of vodka.

The perils of aging I'm afraid to say, but at the same time it also somewhat fits the way her character has gone in the last few seasons. In the fst few seasons of the show Penny was wide-eyed, fresh-faced and optimistic about the world, holding on to the belief she would escape her waitressing reality to become a world famous actress. But as the seasons went on and her career failed to progress she almost seemed to become content with life of almost anonymous mediocrity, giving up on her acting dreams, taking a job as a sales rep and settling down with a man well below her standards. Or maybe I have too much time on my hands.

The people who complain about this show being stereotypical or even offensive make me laugh, because a sitcom has NEVER, EVER perpetuated stereotypes and stretched believability to the point of transparency. Just enjoy it for what it is, ya know?

I never thought of that...if I was to peg someone being on the spectrum, I'd choose Brick from The Middle. (And I don't like TBBT not because of nerd stereotypes and all that, but because it's OVERRATED and it's EVERYWHERE. Just like my resentment towards Frozen)

I watch the occasional episode and I'm always left wondering why it's so hated. It's far from hilarious but compared to other crap in the US it's pretty damn good.

Honestly, I've grown so sick of both "Nerd Culture" and people looking for reasons to be offended by things, that I don't mind it.
And re: sitcoms and ending, what I dislike more is when you have a clear ending that gets overridden because the network would rather keep the show going, which is why I pretend the last few seasons of Scrubs don't exist.

Same deal with How I Met Your Mother. That show could've wrapped in 5 seasons, MAYBE 6 at the most, but they stretched it out to 9. That, combined with the utterly craptastic finale, really hurt that show's legacy.

Seriously, this is my favorite episode of any sitcom ever.

The whole "people look for reasons to be offended" thing, getting irritated with onscreen stereotypes isn't even remotely new. You're just more aware of it now, due to the internet letting more likeminded individuals talk to each other.
Good Times came out in the mid-70s, and backstage, arguments were constantly had about the portrayal of black people with the show. I don't think they were looking to be offended for, I dunno, bonus points or whatever is supposed to be in it for people, or to rant on arpanet or something. It's easy to confuse being more aware of something to thinking it sprung out of the ground, but no, people didn't just decide to get offended, you just started hearing them more.

Seriously, this is my favorite episode of any sitcom ever. Different strokes for different folks. While I've not watched it since Season 6, I find Big Bang Theory very entertaining. I've also never found The IT Crowd even slightly humorous. There's room in the market for both shows.

Hell, I even thought season 9 was fine for what the show's front runners intended it to be, a spinoff and not an extra season of a show that had a legitimate finale. It was ABC that forced that issue so that they could A) charge more for advertising since it was an "established show" and B) charge more for the syndicated package of Scrubs since there were 9 seasons instead of 8.

My only problem with the show is that it seems like it's on all the God Damn time.
