Has anyone here been to a TNA event?

I went to Bound for Glory (2009). It took place at UCI, which is where I went to college though it was a tad after I graduated, I was still in the area. I though Abyss/Foley was a very fun match live.

I've been to a few TNA shows actually. I went to a show in May 2007 that was awesome, the one time they went to the Louisville Gardens. It drew a pretty decent crowd. Might have been the single best house show I've ever been to, with a great mix of big name stars, TNA guys, and a semi indie vibe. The 2009 show I went to in Shepherdsville was kinda bleh. It was okay.

I went to Destination X at Broadbent Arena in 2013 and that was also a really fun show to go to. It had the Sabin over Bully Ray title change and also Styles/Hardy as the de facto main event. The Louisville Slugger Field show in 2014 was on a rainy, cold night (in July!) and thus it drew like crap. The people that were there had a fun time but it just showed how depressingly low rent TNA had gotten in just 1 year.

Come to think of it I've actually been to more TNA shows in the past few years than WWE. It's mostly that WWE just has a lame house show here and not a TV or PPV, and I just don't want to bother.

I went to the first Impact not to be held at the Impact Zone, in October of 2008 in Las Vegas.

Both Lockdown's in St. Louis 07 and 10. Major difference from the crowd size. 07 was bigger and it funny how things changed as this was the first on road PPV since the Hogan take over. I sat just about in the same spot as I did in 07 and I brought my ticket in 2010 on the day off. Still had a lot of fun at both events. It was cool to see for the first time for me, crazy as it seems for watching for so long. Seeing Flair and Hogan in person.

Quality wise both shows where about equal. 07 should been way better but Russize the Storm vs. Harris match with blindfolds killed it. So pissed when they had a much better match a couple weeks later. The "electric" cage match that most of the time the wrestlers forget it was "electric".

[El Hijo del Havoc]

Went to an Impact taping in late November 2005 (Family vacation to Orlando), which ended up being fairly notable. It was the last week of tapings leading into Turning Point, Christian made his Impact debut and had his first TNA match against Bobby Roode. Bobby Heenan also made an appearance for some reason

They also ran a house show in my neck of the woods (Ontario, California) in 2012. I got a picture in the ring with RVD after the show and Victoria's autograph at intermission. I remember a tag match between Magnus/Joe and Daniels/Kazarian that was so damn good, it should've ended the show. I'll upload pictures from both of these shows in a few minutes

I went to one for my birthday, when they were at the Oakdale theater in Wallingford, CT. We had backstage passes and met a few people. Rhyno was kind of mean (maybe he was in character), we were a few feet away from Tomko, and Traci Brooks said I had an awesome first name (Mine is spelled differently, lol).

I went to the first night of the July 2014 Impact re-launch on Spike with the return of the six-sided ring that Great Muta appeared at.

Really fun show, but because TNA was taping 4-6 weeks in advance, Jeremy Borash has to come out in-between segments to explain all that had transpired storyline wise that we hadn't seen as it hadn't aired. Several face-heel alignment changes, poor Borash had to really do a lot.

It's interesting that a lot of these "great show" mentions are from the 2006-08 time period. I think that goes to show what a disservice Vince Russo did to TNA with his TV booking. TNA had a strong roster of workers and when you saw them free of the nonsense of storylines they could put on a very good show.

went to a few house shows... they kinda sucked because they chose a venue that was not at all designed for wrestling.

It's a theater in the round so there was a stage in the middle of the seats, but the lighting rig was designed for concerts and the like and was relatively low...

add a ring on top of the stage and the wrestler had to basically wrestle around it.

hell at one point Alex Shelly came out did his entrance got on the top rope and was able to touch the top of it.


First time that I remember was right after Hogan showed up like literally the saturday after Hogan's first appearance... the place was mostly full.

went again because someone gave me tickets as a Christmas gift just about a year later and the place was half empty.

I've been to 2 house shows in Albany. The first was in 2008, and we did the meet and greet photo with Kurt Angle after. Cool dude.

Both of these shows were at the Times Union Center, a 15,000 seat building, and it was your typical 12-1500 person crowd. Very sad looking. I remember for the 2011 show, we were sitting in the very last row of the lower level of seating. Below is a photo I found on my computer for reference.



Just to the right of the photo was the entrance, which, because of the lack of crowd size, was situated in near the center of the arena. There was a blue curtain spanning the width of the arena floor, but it was only about 15 feet high, so we could see over it. It was quite hilarious and kayfabe-shattering to see wrestlers bullshitting before their matches, come through the curtain and have what were decent matches, only to sell to the curtain, then walk to the back like nothing had happened. Things that you know happens, but is still odd to see.

I also went to a live show at the Amsterdam High School that was part of the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame's induction weekend. The show was held on the day of Randy Savage's death, so it was almost comforting to be around wrestling fans, especially with all the luminaries in attendance. Some of the Hall of Famers were announced, including Road Warrior Animal, Paul Ellering, Danny Hodge, Nick Bockwinkel, the Destroyer, Johnny Rodz, Dominic Denucci, and Larry Sharpe. There were more, but those are who I can remember.

Rob Van Dam defeated Mr. Anderson. This was cool, as Mick Foley made a surprise appearance. After the show, we did the post-show meet and greet with RVD and Foley.

The last show was the coolest, as though the attendance was listed at only 1,000 people, it was a hot crowd, and the building being so small definitely helped.
