I didn't even know he was sick. f*** cancer. RIP Lemmy. I'll miss your distinctive voice. The metal world is a lesser place without you here. Apparently he was diagnosed on Saturday. 70th birthday on Thursday, diagnosed with cancer on Saturday, dies on Monday. I find it oddly fitting that he went out in such a fashion.

God-f***ing-damn it. f*** this shit. Lemmy was one of those guys who'd survive a nuclear blast and keep going strong. To have him die like this; so suddenly? This shit sucks. Rest in Power, Lemmy.

Second post, but it's crazy. This morning in the shower I was thinking of making a thread about what personality is more identified as "God" because of the legacy the man has (as well as a few other people who have gone by that monicker) but I didn't know how that would go with the rules.
Then only a few hours later I hear this news. Still devastated.
In your life you'll be amazed About all you long to lose You cant never live that life again But one thing you will never lose Is the signing in your head That will still be with you till the end

My wife has never understood why people are affected to the point of tears when celebrities die, since we don't know them personally.
She's been with me for 12 years and last night was the first time she has felt it. She wasn't the biggest Motorhead fan but she loves Lemmy. I could see the shock and sadness on her face when she read the story, hoping it was fake. Sadly it's not fake.
The world lost a true character. Thanks for being the most hardcore dude to walk this world and for being the only hero my wife has had.
Like I told my wife though, God had to return to heaven at some point.

I'm saddened but such is life. Lemmy lived a full life even at 70 and went out doing the things he wanted (albeit on a reduced scale).
I do a radio show every Sunday so I will be spinning Hawkwind and Motorhead tracks. I've got a few recent covers of Motorhead tracks to spin as well. I really like Lemmy's work in Hawkwind but Motorhead is where he made his mark.

Motorhead were part of one of my alltime favourite scenes from The Walking Dead.
Also remember them on The Young Ones playing Ace of Spades..

I was deeply saddened when I heard he died but the emotions didn't fully hit me. Not until a couple minutes ago when a friend sent me this:

Saw Motörhead 3 times as a kid. Everyone was there. Metal heads, old punks, skaters, goths and indie kids all united in the old town hall, thanks to one glorious man! God speed Lemmy!!

Damn, first saw Motorhead when I was a student, many, many years ago.
I'm gonna celebrate his life by posting a couple of my favorite Lemmy/Motorhead moments.

I saw this tweeted out just before RAW yesterday, and my heart dropped. I didn't wanna believe it. I hoped against hope that it was just a hoax. When I saw the tributes come pouring out and even an official statement from the band, I just sat in silence. I couldn't even focus on watching RAW.
This man and this band were a huge influence on who I am today. The first metal album I bought was Deaf Forever in 2001 while I was still trying to find my identity. The first band t-shirt I ever owned was a Motorhead, England one. I don't wear it now due to it being torn and ripped to f***, but i'm gonna buy another one now. Even my late father, who idolised Elvis Presley to the point of having the man's face tattooed on his forearm, told me the only "heavy rock" as he put it - that he actually liked was Motorhead's "Ace of Spades", though i'm sure he would've enjoyed their more heavy bluesy style stuff if he heard it. Lemmy was truly a guy who didn't give a f*** and lived his life his way - rock and roll and loud to the end - and influenced me to be the same. Now to hear Mikkey Dee saying that Motorhead is over - well, I kind of expected it. You can have any singer in the world, and it wouldn't be Motorhead without Lemmy.
Lemmy, sir - it's been an honour. You wouldn't want us mourning, you'd want us cranking up some f***ing rock and roll and knocking back some Jack and Coke's.

I guess it makes sense, then, that his drummer said today that "of course" (his words) Motörhead is now no more.

For whatever reason, I keep picturing them having trouble burying him because a massive-ass drum riff starts out of nowhere and he keeps getting out of the casket to finish "Overkill".

Still can't believe this. It's selfish, but I hate I'll never get to see him live. Lemmy had a talent I've seen in very few singers; no matter what he sang, you listened. That voice, the growling tones, just drew you in. I listened to the cover of Sympathy for the Devil for the first time last week. That is a hell of a note to go out on. Rest in power Lemmy, and I hope you're raising a little hell wherever you are.
