You know I do love the fact that Quack is very guarded with his company but there are certain times when I wish we'd get insider news reports on them like other companies. It kind of sucks sitting around and wondering if something is a work or a shoot and if certain people are ever coming back to the company or why certain storylines seem to just stop. It would be nice to see something that says "So and so finished up with Chikara this past weekend. They may come back for a one-off in the future but as of now they're done." Or an explanation about why a storyline has stalled or whatever. I understand patience but there's a point where you need to finish things or at least progress them. Yeah, and then when you do get these unconfirmed reports you don't want to believe but it feels like no one wants to step up and prove that they're false in CHIKARA, shit starts really swirling and when it continues to happen, it's not good for the companies reputation when wrestlers just leave, and things just stop.
And I would be remiss if I didn't bring up the "Tuck Hansen" situation... which kinda seemed to domino effect these stories and rumors to begin with in CHIKARA itself. Quack's OCD booking, writing out long detailed Emails to the entire roster explaining what was good and especially what was bad. Guys getting suspended, fired, just leaving and never coming back, the extremes I've heard for Quack wanting to do a gimmick, like getting a legit Space Helmet worth hundreds of dollars for the ORIGINAL Orbit Adventure Ant, and having the wrestler under the mask pay for it (And he left the company without working the gimmick at all, much like Hansen's story).
I don't want to assume the worst, I really don't, because I love CHIKARA and their workers. But when you hear stuff like this... and no one wants to debunk it because CHIKARA is a very under wraps promotion... it unnerves me and others as fans of the company... it would be nice if they were disproven, but as said, CHIKARA is very hush hush, and that can either work in their favor, or not when stuff like this comes out alleged against them... and especially when workers leave and things get bogged up like they have been...

Yeah, I remember when Chikara/Hero had their messy breakup and they didn't bother removing Hero from the website MONTHS into 2008. I was just getting into Chikara and was a big Hero fan after watching him and Sweeney on ROH. I think that's where the "Hero is coming back any show now" rumors initially started.

Yeah, I remember when Chikara/Hero had their messy breakup and they didn't bother removing Hero from the website MONTHS into 2008. I was just getting into Chikara and was a big Hero fan after watching him and Sweeney on ROH. I think that's where the "Hero is coming back any show now" rumors initially started. It didn't help that Hero was such a massive part of CHIKARA's early success and he was such an integral part of the beginnings of the Eye of Tyr story arc, and CHIKARA was known for making good on tying up loose ends & making call backs to seemingly insignificant (or, by that time insignificant) details. Made even more murky when Hero showed up in Kaiju & was affiliated with a figure within the Eye of Tyr storyline, Dr. Cube. Neither side saying anything for so long didn't help matters either, especially when Hero had been one of the head trainers at the Wrestle Factory. It would've been like if Claudio had just dropped off the face of the CHIKARA world amidst the BDK story arc with no signs as to why. |

I really do think that Quack is not a sleazeball at heart; he just will sacrifice anything for his creative vision, and he legit can't understand how someone can be working on his vision and not sacrificing anything they have, too. I think it's a holdover partly from the terribly 'old school' mentality, where you pay your dues and it's SUPPOSED to suck because what you don't think you're too special to not have it suck for you, right?

Not saying that's true, could be a major work, CHIKARA excels at those, but just saying... I think if Quack exiled Chuck Taylor for some reason the blowback would be worse than Hero's... Chuck is one of the most over Indy Wrestlers out there right now, period...

I can kind of understand Quack's reasoning, if you have a good talent in the middle of a storyline who just ups and leaves with the possibility of joining a company with a shitty reputation that isn't guaranteed to pay on time I would be pissed too especially if said employee doesn't give you proper time to end a story line or feud. |
