I'll give them this, pitting him against John Cena is a surefire way to get Roman cheered. But so help me god, if John Cena wins the f***ing Royal Rumble, I will probably be legit angry over WWE for the first time in a while. The last fan favorite to win was Edge in 2010. That's ridiculous. tbf people were moderately happy at the time about Del Rio and Sheamus winning the Rumble. I know I was content with it. They weren't the most favourite choices (that was probably Punk and Jericho respectively) but they were decent options.

For better or worse, that's their money match. It's what WWE calls a money match.

It really is that easy to not watch. Any time I'm bored of the show I do any of a 100 other things I'd enjoy more in that moment.
Did it last night. 1/2 hr in, "this sucks." CLICK

I'm of the opinion that it's too soon to do this match. However, I find it a much better option for Reigns than attempting to get people to boo Lesnar.

It was followed by the League coming back and getting their asses kicked to send the crowd home happy. They wanted Raw ending on the big cliffhanger for the title match next week, not some staredown that may lead nowhere.

I get why people say this will be the World Title match at Mania, but there's still the possibility of Cena v Taker. If that match is what Vince wants, then we'll have this man winning the Royal Rumble....

All this jumping to conclusion over a dark segment? Really? The same segments that have also had wrestlers strip to their undies to dance, where they spend more time trying to make each other laugh than do anything of substance? This means nothing, they just wanted to send people home having seen something neat.

I'm okay with Reigns vs. either Cena or HHH at WrestleMania. With Hunter it makes perfect sense and would be the culmination of the story similar to Bryan last year. With Cena, I have little doubt he'll put Reigns over which will be a great WrestleMania moment for him.
Right now, I think Hunter is more likely but then again given recent events they may actually go at it early at the Rumble and set up for Cena in between.

Eh, it's generally more to do with how the fan favorites win that turns people against them than anything else. Del Rio was fine in 2011, but teasing a Santino win in a time where all Santino's been doing up until that point (and after) was comedy fodder kinda dampened things, and Sheamus' win in 2012 was ruined by Jericho obviously being the favorite to win during the match.

The build up to this match would be insufferable. I hope it's homoerotic as his feud with The Rock. We learn Cena has a things for Samoans when he feuds with Samoa Joe

For better or worse, that's their money match. It really is. Roman's like the only guy on the regular roster that wins as much as Cena. He's the clear successor to Cena's throne. A win over him would solidify that he's the present and the guy that's carrying the company now (in theory/kayfabe, anyway). If Cena won, he'd finally tie Flair's record. That's the biggest match they could do right now. Lots of directions you could take it to. Is Cena gonna keep it clean and sportsman-like or does he maybe feel a bit threatened by this newcomer that could very well take his spot? Maybe it's Roman that feels insecure because he feels like he can't match up to Cena while he's around. Who are fans even gonna side with, if anybody? I really do think this needs to be the Mania main event. The only other options are Reigns/Lesnar (which would be another good idea since it's the logical follow-up to last year's ending) and Reigns/HHH (which, even if it doesn't happen at the Rumble, I wouldn't do for a Mania main event).

I can't imagine that a Reigns vs. Cena feud would stay face/face. There's nowhere near enough to capture interest the way that Rock vs. Cena did, and even that feud ended up with Cena looking like an asshole by the time the match happened.

I'm sure WWE will try to sell it as face vs face but the fans will force someone into the heel role by default. They'll either boo Cena in favor of the "fresher, younger" Reigns, or they'll resent the hell out of the possibility of WWE using their ace in the hole of a clean John Cena loss (or even a potential Cena heel turn) to Make Roman Look Strong.

Cena absolutely cannot get a win against him. You need to establish Reigns as the guy without a question. You can't do that by having Cena get a clean win.
