Just going to point out, because it still annoys me to no end, two threads ago, someone called Post-Return JBL "THE GREATEST HEEL COMMENTATOR EVER", while saying he was terrible in 2006-07.

He even went so far as to accuse Taz and JR of "bashing him" and "hating their commentary" for criticizing the same thing too. Dude really needs to chill out.

That is total bollocks. He's trying to suggest that it was an intentional decision not to mention it?
They were harping on about the interference, it's not like they weren't saying what was happening (i.e. commentating), it's just that actual in ring action is totally ignored nowadays, because...who gives a f*** right?

JBL's a real asshole with that 'deaf and dumb' comment. He should be fired for shit like that.

You know now people mute TV commentators during football and listen to the radio broadcast instead? We need an option like this. The WWF actually used to have a radio broadcast for major events.

I find it Ironic that Vince, who was a commentator, does this shit. This was the guy who even at the WWF's lowest tried to put crap over as number 1.

JBL's 80% of the reason why I mute my TV in the first place, so I'm actually fine with him not telling us much. That said, he comes off like a douche here.

I listen to the Taz Show.
If anything, Taz is overly kind to the WWE commentary teams and bashes the NXT commentary team because Corey Graves is a heel.
JBL's a baby, fire him publically please.

I love the fact that a guy who was notoriously horrible to rookies during his tenure as a wrestler in the WWE feels threatened by harmless people on the internet rightfully critiquing his lackluster work that he has to block them so they won't hurt his precious feelings ever again.

This is one of those things that isn't just bad storytelling, it actively discourages new fans from getting interested. Commentary is what helps new viewers understand what is happening, and tights-pulling is actually something that new fans wouldn't even guess as being cheating in context. I've watched with enough never-seen-this-before people to know that commentary being on point with this is deeply important for building the audience.

Truth be told I don't think most fans care about pulling tights in the year 2015 (almost 2016) anyway, but JBL's comments speak to a larger problem. It's not that WWE commentators don't explain thoroughly what is going on in a match to get it over, it's also that the announcers have absolutely zero credibility with the fans. If you think back to the territory days, announcers had to carry the entire show. Gordon Solie carried the Florida broadcasts, Lance Russell and Dave Brown were the iconic Memphis announce team, and so on. Announcers have to have cache with the audience because if the audience doesn't believe firmly in what those guys are saying, then the product has zero credibility.

As someone who has friends who are blind wrestling fans and find themselves incapable of fully engaging with the current product due to today's announcers making no attempt at actually describing the action... f*** you JBL.

Wasn't there a RAW a while back where the commentary team got wiped out and the rest of the show was broadcast in silence, with just the wrestling and the graphics going on without any narrative? I seem to remember that show getting rave reviews. Can someone refresh my memory on this? Are you talking about the Nexus debut? I think he's talking about the time Brock Lesnar destroyed the entire announce team, giving Cole an F-5, which supposedly caused the same injury that Perry Aguayo Jr. died from.

It's one if the main reasons I love Chikara so much. Their announcers are completely into the match going on at the moment. And even if they're not talking about the action, they are continuing the story, telling about what has happened to the wrestlers currently in the ring at the time, and the possible things to come if a certain wrestler wins.

I think JBL may be on to something. In fact, if he doesn't want to say anything for the entirety of Raw, I'm all for it.

Even then, Saxton came out a little while later to provide commentary. The only other recent time I remember the announce team going quiet was when Lawler had his heart attack, which at the time just scared the hell out of everybody because we were all thinking the worst.

I was more annoyed that after sitting through a long ass, largely uneventful match where Becky seems to be getting a minor face push against 3 (count 'em 3) top heel Divas she gets robbed of a moral victory when practically every other time that kind of finish happens Cole is the main one screaming about 'they grabbed the damn tights, NOT THIS WAY!!!' like someone shot the President. But he clearly didn't here, and nobody even mentioned it on the several replays.
It seems like a slap in the face to Becky, someone who should be a LOT more over than she is, and it worries me that she's going to go down the same road as Emma and Kaitlyn-- a perfectly awesome face that is wasted by booking/commentary who don't know how to nurture her development as a Superstar.

I know it's just Twitter, but it seems like WWE personalities are getting downright hostile lately in regards to criticism. It may be best for them to sit everybody down and reiterate that they don't need to engage critics in a hostile manner there. Making sensible points instead of collectively going off and telling fans to basically not watch their product seems really counterproductive right now.
