You've heard of a confidence pool, right? It's basically a fun alteration of making weekly NFL picks where you assign a point value to each game picked. Like, if there are 16 games that weekend, you pick a game and put a number from 1 to 16 next to it (and you can only use each number once), based on how confident you are that that team will win that game. If you're very confident in the win, you put a high number like 15. Not very confident, a lower number like 4. You get that many points if they win that game, but 0 points if they lose. Here's a sample sheet: As you can see, Diane got 11 points for correctly predicting Tennessee to beat Oakland, but when she put 5 points next to Denver beating Jacksonville, and Denver lost, she did not get that 5 points. Anyway, I just thought of a nice variation to this for the upcoming NFL playoffs. It will be from 1 to 11 and last throughout the playoffs' 11 games. Everyone gets one board for the entire playoffs, and the can only play each number once. Most points at the end wins (and I'll have to think of some tiebreakers). Sound like fun? Alright, let's do this!
HERE IS YOUR BOARD 11 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 -
- You will keep the same board throughout the playoffs. It is up to you to copy/paste this board every week with a new post for every weekend of games (please no editing posts after a week has passed, you can edit a post for the current week up until the playoff games begin for that weekend. Or a brand new post for each time you edit your board, that might be better.)
- Picks must be made before kickoff for that particular game.
- Specify the exact game you put in that spot, with the predicted winner and loser (with "This Team over That Team" or something like that.)
- There won't really be a conventional sign-up period. Just drop in, copy the board and paste it with your picks. So no one will be eliminated if they miss a week.
- Most points at the end wins!
There, I think I cleared up everything. Anything else I should clarify, or anything we should work out or even change? We have all week pretty much until the game is finalized.

Just wondering, for this game it is the same board the whole post season? If I make a no 9 pick that spot is taken for the rest of the Post Season and so on? For example, if I pick team X over Team Y to win their wild card game in spot 9, I can't choose spot 9 for picks divisional playoffs and so on ?

Yes there are 11 games in the playoffs and each one will get one number so your high number games you should be really confident.

I don't know how in all my years of following sports and betting on sports that I've never heard of a confidence pool. I've got to admit, it's a pretty novel concept. I'm in, I'll have my picks for the Wild Card round submitted by Friday night.
