In Owens' defense, he is Samoan.

Dude has been doing fine but he has gotten a lot heavier since he debuted. With the schedule they have I'd imagine you want to be in the best shape possible. That's something I've always wondered with them. I'm on the road a lot and never mind having no time to work out, I eat nothing but junk because it's all that's available. I guess these guys get a little more time than the half hour I get to fill my face, but it must take a lot of work and dedication to maintain weight, and it's pretty easy to fall off the wagon. I don't think it's an issue at all right now, but it is something to monitor to make sure it doesn't become an issue.

Lot's of guys are fat in wrestling. Look at Umaga, he made quite the name for himself as the fat Samoan Bulldozer.
It's when you're Bo Dallas fat that it's a problem.

Probably depends on what we mean by "in shape", since that can have a few different meanings. If Owens can work his matches without getting gassed easily, then he's probably in pretty good shape, all in all, even if he's a big guy. I'm not saying this with any scientific evidence backing me up, but it's just an observation: might the modern day trend of intense exercise regiments be contributing to the number of guys getting injured for extended periods of time? It makes the guys more athletic, sure, but it's been observed in other sports, as well, that while being bigger or more ripped has become more of a necessity to thrive in your sport of choice, it also opens you up to a multitude of easy to trigger injuries that can occur in the course of performing in your sport.

Kevin was looking great until that one injury last year. That stopped him from working out, and then he got called up as soon as he was healthy from that injury. Being away from the Performance Center I think is his biggest issue.

Dave Meltzer made an interesting point about how the recent use of Olympic style lifting by wrestlers (Cena, Cesaro, Sami Zayn just to name a few), which focuses more on functional strength than muscles that are more for show like the body-builder types of the 80's and 90's used to to do, results in significantly more strain being put on their bodies (particularly, their shoulders). Add on that guys are taking bumps most nights out of the week and putting their bodies through even more strain, it seems like it was only a matter of time before guys started getting hurt and showing the negative effects of this kind of training.

Sure his ring work isnt hurt at the moment but getting heavier can't be good for the ol knees and those blow out just by being a wrestler.

Weight isn't an issue

I think Owens is fine as he is. He's not jacked to the gills, nor is he flabby like the Bastion Booger. He's pretty much your average dude, unless he isn't.

As long as it isn't causing health/stamina issues, I don't see the problem. He is a fat, but he looks tough. That's all he needs to be.
It's his attire more than his physique that bothers me more. Everything about it screams "indie wrestler in a school gym in front of 23 people"

So hes a little overweight.. Big deal. Like Honky Said, " The best heels Ive ever saw had a beer belly and buggy whip arms"
Not everyone can look like Cena or Orton.

The thread title's structure makes it look like a quote from Kevin Owen himself, which is amusing to imagine.

There is not a single credible source in that entire article.

If he dropped 20 lbs he'd still be chubby brawler looking Kevin Owens but it'd look a lot better.
