Dammit, I just watched Dogma for the first time in years the other day.
He has been my "old enough to be my grandfather crush for YEARS!!"
losing him and Bowie in the same week is a serious double blow for me.

Hans Gruber: I am an exceptional thief, Mrs. McClane. And since I'm moving up to kidnapping, you should be more polite.
RIP Alan Rickman

Very much a shame.. only two weeks into 2016 and already robbed of two amazingly talented people, and Lemmy Kilmister just a couple of days before.
RIP.

No f****** way.
I'm in shock again for the second time this week. This man played some of my favorite villains and anti heros of all time in Snape and Hans. He's also the main reason I own Galaxy Quest as well. FFS.
R.I.P.

Alan Rickman didn't die. He just returned to heaven permanently since God finally lifted the ban on angels imbibing alcohol.

Watched Die Hard this past Christmas, my mom and I talked at one point about how well Rickman looked for his age. R.I.P. to Snape and one of the greatest movie villains of all time.

Carve my heart out with a spoon, it'll hurt more.
Usually, I like to think I do well composed eulogies when we lose someone. May not happen this time.
I feel like Martin Sheen from The West Wing from the episode Two Cathedrals. He just looks toward the altar and just spits out "You really are a son of a bitch, you know that?". I'm just both angry and heart broken over the loss, yet another, of a true talent to f***ing cancer. It's just cruel now.
So, how do we take measure of a man who came late to the acting game? Who was ready to quit when he lucked into Hans Gruber, one of the most iconic villains in movie history? Or do we remember Galaxy Quest? Or his take on Rasputin against Sir Ian's Tsar Nicholas II? Or, chances are, his other most iconic role, Snape from the Harry Potter movies? For me, no matter the role, the performance, the voice remains the defining thing. That smooth tone that could be menacing or seducing, comic or kind, he could just make you feel it with his words.
Beyond that, I'm at a loss. I'm at one of those rare moments where I want to scream at the heavens for taking someone I truly cared about and yet feel lucky for having had it at all.
Again, someone out there better come up with a cure for cancer right quick, because this is really getting old now. And we are only into week three of 2016. I'm having 2009 flashbacks where we lost so much... I have nothing else. All I have is what Rickman used to convey so well with his talent - controlled elegance in words. I only wish I could do him justice now.

His performance as Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd was probably one of my favorites of his.
Godspeed, Mr. Rickman.

God dammit this one really hit home. I loved Harry Potter as a kid, and I remember watching the first movie when I was 11 and just being entranced by Rickmans performance in it. Even later on, despite the movies quality dropping he still brought so much energy and depth to the character of Snape that it almost made be forget how stupid his character arc was. RIP to one of his generations finest.

Just to elaborate my thoughts a little, Alan Rickman was someone who I knew no matter how good or bad the movie was, I'd be entertained and captivated whenever he was on screen. Truly brilliant actor, who never disappointed. This is a hard one to lose
