I would say in between. Lucky on one end that for outside of a few years, the Spurs have made the NBA playoffs, and when they have a bad season the front office lucks out and get great players like David Robinson and Timmy. Bad luck on football since the team I loved as a child are now in Tennessee, and the Texans can't get a damn QB to save their lifes. Motorsports is getting predicable, but I still like the engendering of it, waiting for March to see if someone can topple the Silver Arrows from their 2 year dominance of F1, and with the changing of the guard in Nascar. Who will replace the Gordon's, Stewarts, Etc...?

I was thinking about this whilst watching the Packers/Cardinals game last night. Is it healthier for me to watch my Dolphins mediocrely wobble to another inconsequential season, or experience an annual heart-crushing disappointment in the playoffs?
I think I'm better off being rarely disappointed because I expect so little.

Let's see. Out of the main sports, I have:
Dallas Cowboys: 4-12, but my backup team, the Panthers, are doing quite well. Nebraska: 6-7, but on the uprise hopefully. Chicago Bulls: 23-16 currently, not too shabby. Butler is having a superstar year it seems. Chicago Blackhawks: Defending Stanley Cup Champions Atlanta Braves: Dumpster fire.
So, kinda in the middle. Some teams doing fine, some teams not so much, one team a train wreck.
Fortunately, I have these guys:

I'm satisfied so long as my favorite teams are trying. If they're out there being a bunch of overpaid dickheads who are doing the only the bare minimum, then I'm pissed. I don't care if my team has nothing but scrubs out there, at least go for it and fail for lack of quality, not lack of trying.

In between
Detroit Red Wings: Making the playoffs every years since 1990 and by back-up team, the Bruins, are doing better than expected. Los Angeles Lakers: Currently the worst team in the Western Conference Oakland Raiders: 13 straight losing seasons but things are looking up

For me in the middle for St. Louis sports:
St. Louis Cardinals: They always make the playoffs and have had won a couple Word Series in the last 10 years. The Blues: Just wanting to see that Stanley Cup happen. They make the playoffs but never go far into it.
That's all I'm going with now. The NFL side of things I don't have a favorite team anymore and never was into the NBA.

Supersweet, I believe you're an Oilers fan, so there's where your dissatisfaction comes in.
I'm usually satisfied in that people lose sight of the point a lot. Especially in terms of playoffs and big games and championship games which their team isn't in. They miss out on a lot. For one, it's entertaining. A great waste of your time, and something that I can usually immerse myself in without constantly checking my phone. In that regard, it's better than most movies and TV shows to me. And things get that special feel sometimes. Like men's tennis the last several years has been tremendous to watch. The 2011 run my Cardinals made was magical to watch. A number of the Super Bowls the last 10 years have been great watches. Try and see the sport for an appreciation of it being played at the highest level rather than it being unsatisfying because your rooting interest lost. Especially when you've only been rooting for that team for 3 hours or 2 weeks or whatever.

North Carolina Tar Heels ( football and basketball): Absolutely thrilled with the season in football, sure I wish they won their bowl game, but 11 wins was completely unexpected. Basketball has been good so far too, best shot at a title in the past couple of seasons.
Washington Redskins: Once again, absolutely ecstatic with their season. Never thought that team would go to the playoffs, let alone win the NFC East. I feel the team is heading in the right direction.
Boston Red Sox: Was disappointed with the past two seasons, but I see great things on the horizon. I'm still enjoying that 2013 WS title due to the complete surprise of the fact they were awful the year before.
Los Angeles Lakers: The only one of my teams I'm not optimistic about currently. That's mostly due to the lack of good talent and the fact they are in the always tough Western Conference. I take comfort though that they have won five titles in my lifetime and only two other teams have either surpassed or matched that ( Bulls with six and Spurs with five).

The dark times are what make the good times feel so... good.
Yeah, I'm an Iowa State and a Vikings fan. Trust me, I know dark times.
That said, win or lose we really don't care. It's always a good time to have a good time.

I am a huge fan of the following teams:
- Carolina Panthers - Atlanta Braves - Atlanta Hawks
You're goddamn right I'm disappointed 99.9% of the time.

I was disappointed, as a former Toronto sports fan. Thank I got I don't care for Hockey. Jumped ship from the Raptors when Vince left, and transitioned over to the Warriors when Stephen got drafted.
It's been a rough start, but I can now call myself a very satisfied sports fan. Never before have I gotten to follow one of "my" teams through a season, all the way to a championship. I used to think it would never happen.

Considering my two main sporting teams are Newcastle United and the New York Jets one could say I often end up more disappointed than happy but I can't help but keep following. The Jets could go 0-16 and Newcastle could be relegated breaking the record low Premier League points tally on the way next season (if we're even still in the Premier League next season) and I'd still be ready the season after to watch both teams all over again.

MLB = SF Giants. Safe to say I'm more than satisfied. From Bonds smashing records to World Series wins. It's been a damn good run.
NFL = 49ers. Other than the Harbaugh outlier, perpetual disappointment for years. Even the new stadium is bland and disappointing.
NBA = Kings. 10 years of misery, but finally trending up. But, I cant ever be disappointed with them. Sacramento fighting and succeeding to keep their team from Seattle is such a great story that it overrides the years of awful teams. They had two feet out the door, yet here they stayed. I remember it like yesterday when our home announcers signed off, both breaking down in tears, because it was very likely the last ever Sacramento Kings game, and i was crying right along with them... And now that little team from Sacramento is going to have the nicest arena in the entire NBA starting next season. That blows my mind.

Currently Satisfied. Being a hockey fan and having 2 hockey teams ( I live in Saginaw, so RW and Spirit) is enough for me.
