I like documentaries in general, but it's been a while since I've seen a really good one. I'd LOVE some suggestions. Also, I'm in the middle of watching Making a Murderer. Only three episodes deep so far. Would love to discuss it when I'm through, but I'm trying to avoid the spoilers in the meantime

Are we talking television or cinematic? Because earlier this afternoon I watch one about the 1979 Daytona 500, where a combination of it being the first NASCAR race televised in its entirety, a dramatic finish and a snowstorm that wiped out the east coast helped turn the sport into the Juggernaut it is today.

I'm looking more for cinematic, but definitely throw out some TV ones as well. Anything that can be called a documentary would qualify for this thread

If it counts, Making a Murderer (I know, not exactly the most underground thing right now).
In the same vein, the Paradise Lost trilogy is excellent.
If you're into comedy, Call Me Lucky is outstanding. It's a joke that it wasn't nominated for an Oscar.

Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films Pretty fun. I've heard of that one before (think I read about it on here actually, probably in a post you made lol). Anyway, I'd love to check it out sometime as I love old Cannon Films. Thanks for reminding me!

Amy.
I highly, highly recommend it. Amy Winehouse was a tortured genius and it's tough to watch at times.

What did you think of it? I have a friend who tried watching it and hated it... but he grew up on a farm so his viewpoint is different.

The Mystery of Morgus
This was a NOLA made documentary about long time horror host Dr Morgus. Who has been around since the 60s.Pretty sure he still does at least one episode a year now.

I can see why it would be incendiary for someone who grew up in that life, it is a very polarizing issue. I thought the film raised some interesting questions about overall unspoken environmental impact and water/land/etc usage when it came to raising animals for consumption. The narrator was douchey at times though. Overall, it was definitely an interesting look at bascially how powerful and crooked the meat industry is and how it manipulates laws to skirt regulations and even put some small farms out of business.

Deep Web by Alex Winter.
It's about the under web or whatever you want to call it. And is narrated by Keanu Reeves, which makes it a Bill and Ted reunion.
Nintendo Quest was fun and cute also.

Look of Silence. If you haven't seen The Act of Killing, I highly recommend watching that and then The Look of Silence as a companion piece. They're both incredibly well done and important docs about genocide in Indonesia.
