I was thinking Carolina blows them out but too many other people think that and the spread is only Carolina -5. Now I think either Denver wins or they at least will cover the spread.

We're less than 24 hours out now. I'm nervous as shit. If the Panthers lose, I may or may not have a breakdown.

Broncos 20, Panthers 13 #1 scoring offense, for the umpteenth time, spits the bit on Super Sunday. We've seen this before- DEFENSE. WINS. CHAMPIONSHIPS. Period. And Carolina and their cocky selves are about to get a taught a lesson in humility. You realize the Panthers have an outstanding defense too, correct? The Broncos play in one of the worst divisions in the NFL. I'm not saying the NFC South is anything to write home about, but come on. The thing is, that Panthers offense is outstanding. Denver's isn't. If Carolina starts putting points on Denver, I will breathe a sigh of relief because I honestly don't think Denver can go blow for blow with Carolina when it comes to offense.

Will this Super Bowl have a non-offensive touchdown/scoring play? (i.e. safety/defensive score/kick or punt return).

On one hand, the Panthers played a mediocre NFC East and AFC South, but also defeated a 10-6 Seahawks team (which had the top scoring defense) and the Cardinals (who also had a top 5 offense and defense). On the other, the Broncos defeated the top playoff teams, but barely defeated a Steelers team that was without Brown and a hobbled Roethlisberger, and a Patriots team that had injuries on the offensive side, an O-line that went through 37 different combinations, and had no running game.

I'm a big Panthers fan, but I try to keep myself from getting too excited about things concerning the team. Going into the playoffs, I was honestly unsure how they'd end up doing. They stomped Seattle (I think the second half was a mistake they won't repeat) and just obliterated Arizona. I remember everyone saying Arizona's defense would be too much for them to handle and the Arizona offense would be too good. I'm hoping the same thing happens in this game. In a perfect world (For me, at least) this thing is in the bag for Carolina before halftime. In a realistic/typical StuntGranny world, the Broncos will win and I'll feel just as shitty as I did on February 1st, 2004.

I guess that with less than four hours before kickoff, it's time for a prediction.
As I said earlier this week, Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense haven't seen anything like the Carolina defense all season. But conversely, I think Denver's defense is still plenty good enough to keep the Broncos in the game. I think Denver is going to struggle to score touchdowns but at the same time, I don't expect the Panthers to roll out of bed and put 30- or 40-plus on the scoreboard like they did against Seattle and Arizona.
What's going to decide this game will be how the Broncos defense handles Cam Newton. If they contain him in the pocket, their secondary is plenty good enough to prevent the flotsam and jetsam that the Panthers have at wide receiver from breaking loose, and that's going to give Denver's pass rushers an opportunity to pin their ears back and tee off of Newton. I don't expect Newton to have a 300 passing yard, 100 rushing yard sort of day, but if he does, this game is going to turn into a laugher.
The key for Denver's offense appears to be the running game because I think the Panthers' defense and secondary is good enough to keep Peyton Manning in check. Manning appeared to pull one last good game out of his rear end against the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, yet he finished 17-for-32 for 176 yards, which is an exceedingly pedestrian stat line. Even though the Broncos defense will keep it close, Manning will have to be better than that if he's going to lead them down the field for touchdowns instead of field goals.
It feels like this will be one of those Super Bowls that finishes with a relatively close final score but upon a second viewing we'll realize it wasn't as close as the score indicated. I just think Carolina is too well-rounded in every facet of the game.
SUPER BOWL 50 Carolina Panthers - 24 Denver Broncos - 16

I just see...well, a LOT of phantom calls on the defense. The story is going to be "QB vs QB" and "passing the torch" and "Manning rides into the sunset"...so if I'm a cornerback, I just start expecting flags thrown at me.

At least they wont have to endure an evening with Nantz and Simms like we will though. Surely that alone is worth the extortionate price of a Superbowl ticket!

Even if this game turns into a blowout, the worst part of this Super Bowl would still be Phil Simms.
He's horrendous. Jim Nantz deserves better.
