The name change annoys me a lot, thinking about it. It's the type of thing that makes me want to fruitlessly rant. Calf Crusher isn't the worst name in the world, but the principle. Also, AJ Styles debuted the Calf Crusher tonight on Smackdown! Great move, that!  |

If that's really the new name, that sucks. I think that sounds real corny, I can't even explain why. Calf Slicer/Killer sounds much better.

Calf Cutter would work better IMO, still has the alliteration appeal.

Should have just went with Calf Cutter, like ROH (well, Nigel) called it.

Yeah, I've seen better-applied Calf Killers by AJ before. Give it time.
I can see why they changed it, but "Calf Killer" just rolls off the tongue easier.

Mauro said on Twitter that "Calf Crusher" was chosen for alliteration reasons.
AJ on Jericho's podcast thought at the time it was going to be "Calf Slicer" due to that being the term in MMA.
As for Ambrose, Mauro also said he got the go-ahead to rename the rebound lariat the "Kellett Catapult" as it went back all the way to Les Kellett.
