It makes the Uso's splash look like garbage every time they do it. If you ever see their splash when the camera's pulled back it's this really pretty flight where they seem to hang in the air for a moment. It's awesome. But when they do it on Raw they seem the damn camera right into their shirts and you barely see them fly.

They even shake the camera during the backstage promo. Then the promo ends and either the wrestler or the interviewer just stares into space for 5 seconds before the camera cuts away. What the hell is that? Seriously, what the hell is that crap about? LOOK INTO THE DAMN CAMERA and tell me what kind of pain you're going to inflict on your opponent. Don't just stare into space, because then you're inflicting pain on me! I can't take it! To Vern, who suggested watching another promotion, I watched Wrestle Kingdom and I was completely impressed. It was like watching a real sporting event, for once I had no shame watching wrestling in front of my wife. What makes it worse, is after watching Breaking Ground, there's a segment where William Regal explains WHY you want to look directly into the camera. It's in order to connect with the viewers watching at home. You want to engage them, and NOT stare off into space. And then, they reach the main roster, and are told to stare off into space. So so weird.

Whether it's Dunn's fault or someone else's, it definitely needs to go. The RAW name remains amusingly ironic with the show being so painfully overproduced.
It's not a "today's audience demands ..." situation either. Plenty of forms of entertainment rely on the same basic camera and presentation techniques that worked decades ago. Just look at the times when wrestling had major mainstream popularity and return to some of those methods, it will go a long way in drawing people back in.

My personal camera work gripe is focusing on Reigns' reaction and not the word 'phenomenal' during the Royal Rumble entrance for AJ Styles

Blame Stonecutters Media because WWE swagger jacked ECW's style of shooting wrestling with that.

The one I'll always remember is missing Jericho's return. I don't even know HOW they managed that. Wait, what? I've managed to completely forget about this. When Jericho made his return in 2007, just before he turned to face the camera, they cut to an Orton reaction shot.

NXT, PWG, ROH and NJPW all know to stay on the same camera from execution of move until after the impact. It's such a simple thing. It really distorts how good the move looks/is effective etc if Dunn is distorting everything by changing camera angles/crash zooming etc

Does ANYONE like it? I hate it so much. I've literally only ever watched like 2 New Japan matches and the fact they just show the action and not have 2-3 angles per move and a zoom in on impact make it look so much better.

Wrestlekingdom 9, Okada hits Tanahashi with "the greatest dropkick in the world" as Jim Ross called it, literally a picture perfect moment. A wide-angle camera shot that captured the magnitude of that epic move. Simply beautiful. One of my favorite camera shots of all time, with an amazing call from Jim Ross. I can re-watch that a thousand times, never gets old. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vk5M6BChqk

The one I'll always remember is missing Jericho's return. I don't even know HOW they managed that. Speaking of awful camera shots, how about showing Jericho doing the Jericho pose after clotheslining Orton's marathon runner? Probably the stupidest decision I have ever seen, production wise. Why in God's name wouldn't you hit the music after the attack and let the surprise happen THERE?!

You could actually SEE Jericho's face for a second when they did that shot, which suggests that either they did it live (for some reason) or that they just didn't care enough to edit it properly.

It was one of the things that set them apart from WCW. And the quick-switch camera change when there's a huge impact made the blow seem even more impactful. But now? Much like everything else WWE does, when they hit on something that works, they drive it into the ground. And making wrestling matches look like PS1-era cutscenes is a great example of that.

I've hardly watched WWE programming for almost two years now. I come on here and hear about some of the new guys and think that maybe I'll check it out. Then I see a thread like this one. I utterly despised that kind of crap before and it seems like they've turned it up tenfold. What kind of idiot actually thinks this is good TV? They should put their attention into building good storylines and great matches rather than this kind of bullshit of 'watch how many times I can hit a button in a five second span'.

I'm hoping the camera style is one of those things that leaves when Dunn does, because it is so obnoxious to have these matches ruined by shit that's so overproduced it actually takes away from the realness of what is supposed to be happening. These cameras should be used to make sure that the match is shot in the best way possible and to help tell the story, not to jerk off on the screen with all of these not-actually-sleek cuts and zooms. It's a boneheaded way of undercutting the ring work. The cinematographer Roger Deakins said that if the audience doesn't notice, then you've done your job. And the fact that you notice these things ultimately means that Dunn fails at his job utterly.

Changing camara views mid-move is something I hate. I know it hides moves that don't connect but it's awful most of the time.
Where it annoyed me most was during that crazy Kalisto spot off the ladder during TLC. They change the view right at impact and to me it took away from the spot and ruined the real impact of the move.

The worst offender was when the camera missed Steamboat skinning the cat in the Jericho vs legends match.
Inexcusable.
