I'm still not in love with the Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker WrestleMania match, but I think the American Bad Ass gimmick could aid with this angle.
Having a three-dimensional Undertaker who explains his motivations for helping out Vince could go a long way to making sense of this. You've got a rich history amongst all three parties to reference, but I think you're kind of hamstrung by the Deadman gimmick.
I think presenting the Undertaker as a 20-year WWE employee who feels some kind of obligation to his boss would really add a human and personal touch to the match.

He doesn't exist in Vince's brain though. That was a problem with the HHH vs Taker Mania buildup.

Well, that and the fact that they didn't bother to give that feud a single ounce of substance until six days before the show and before that it was just alternating between them silently staring at each other and video packages of people talking about how awesome it was going to be.

He needs to beat the every living shit out of Shane leading up to the match, either way. The thing I remember most about ABA Taker was the beatdowns he put on people.

WWE had been doing sort of a hybrid of ABA and Deadman for the Lesnar feud last year, but I hate how they went back to the uninspired evil one-liner. I really wanted Undertaker to just say "hell no" to Vince or something and build up to him finally agreeing to the match.

He always hated Vince though, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to want to help him out. Could see him saying something about beating the old man, the son in law and now he'll take down the son with everything being on Vince's head.

ABA Taker would make this match make a lot more sense. ABA Taker would beat people up just for the hell of it. Even better if it was Vince's kid.

True, but they also hyped it over and over as their 2nd Mania meeting and kept glossing over the HHH/ABA match. I remember hearing "newz" a while back that Vince would get pissed if BikerTaker was even brought up.

American Badass Taker with his new catchphrase: "Get kicked in the dick!" That shirt will sell millions. Shane, mid-promo, when suddenly the bells gong and lightning strikes. Undertaker slides in the ring from the audience, wearing his American Bad Ass gear and grabs the mic from Shane. "Shane-o Mac" the dead man growls, "Geeeeeet kicked int he dick!" Swiftly, the Undertaker kicks Shane square in the testicles before sliding out of the ring onto a motorcycle that was never really hidden from view and, after a few minutes struggling, cranks it up and rides out as a poppy remix of the Big Evil theme plays. #NewBoomPeriod

American Badass Taker is dead because Vince buried him alive. Why would he want to help him?
Granted no one in history turns the other cheek to a friendly burying of his living body like the Undertaker.

I hate ABA-Taker but I agree, would be way more suited for this storyline.
I get why Vince is apprehensive to bring him back though. That Taker is just a awesome heel. Phenom Taker is a spectacle. And WWE needs to clutch every spectacle it can aquire.

Remember that Taker said something along those lines in 98 when he walked out dressed normally for the most part and said he was angry at Vince for giving Paul Bearer an open forum to discuss his past life, and how for years he had kept Vinces kingdom safe for his "hand picked champions".
