Dude I have mad respect for the guy. He never has to do any of this stuff but does so anyway. It's his decision and I can't take away his determination to entertain. *standing ovation*

In the long run, what does it matter if his match was better? He likely won't be returning, or at least won't stick around for a lengthy period. WWE isn't a product based on singular matches but rather a running story and/or commentary. So if Shane has a 4 star match with taker and Punk's is only 3 but continues the story or branches into a new one, then I'll take the latter. Point taken, but I don't see why we can't discuss a particular match and compare it to others. I mean, in the long run does it matter if CM Punk's 400-day title reign was better or worse than anyone else's? He likely won't be back either, but it's still OK to discuss it. I actually thought Punk-Taker was better than a lot of people who trashed it did, but I thought this was a well-executed example of storytelling in the ring. I don't care if Shane won and "got control of Raw" because that's kayfabe, it's not like VMK & Co. were really putting the internal WWE booking and power structure on the line based on a predetermined match -- the only thing that would have changed would have been the on-camera frontman. I enjoyed the match. Shane is, as a noted above, my favorite hardcore wrestler ever. I was skeptical about his ability to put on a WM-level match with an old Undertaker, but in my eyes they really, really pulled it off. Point also taken, and agree to disagree on some points but we all enjoy whatever we enjoy. In the end it's all subjective.

It just seemed really unnecessary. Maybe I'm jaded from all the 'Shane jumps off high stuff' history + the fact that this entire angle was pointless.
It was impressive, but sorta like a fireworks display: "Oooh... Aaaah. Ok, moving on."

Kind of sucks he didn't win after that, but then I realized almost immediately that if he did it would mean The Authority angle being shifted to Smackdown.
I know most people here hate RAW, and a number sadly still don't watch Smackdown for whatever reason, but Smackdown has been seriously great the last several months. It doesn't need to be tainted with that mess of an angle. Hopefully whatever is in the lock box will lead to some hilarious moments in the next few months.

Shane will forever have my respect. He seems infinitely happy with where he is in life, so I wish him and his family all the best.
He defines what it means to give it all for his audience. And tonight, you can't really ask for anything more.

I thought the match dragged. Shane kicking out of the Last Ride, and kicking out of the chokeslam on the steps, and breaking out of the Hell's gate...I jut couldn't buy into any of that. I mean, come on... As for the spot, it was nothing I haven't seen him do before. Sorry for the negativity, but I'm just being honest. Saw the spot coming a mile away and just didn't care when it happened.

I guess I am getting old or that my standers are too high, but I thought the match was awful. His jump did nothing for me, because I thought the match was too boring. He could have jumped 100 feet and wouldn't make up for the boring match.

but I can't help but be annoyed that Mick's cage dive was usurped by an majorly inactive wrestler. This is exactly how I feel. I give Shane all the credit in the world for being brave enough to do these spots, but it doesn't change the fact that the guys he's one-upping (Foley, Michaels, etc.) are the master storytellers whose matches involved more than just the risky falls. Shane is more like the part-time stuntman who gets highlight reel moments that are just a little bit superior, without the rest of the performance being anywhere near at the same level.

So Shane had a better HiaC match with Taker than CM Punk did. Damned part-timers. Taker's WM match with Punk that actually got developed time absolutely blew this match away. Taker's 9 minute squash match was not on par with a 30 minute HIAC match that attempted to tell a story. Shocker.

Please don't die." Then amusingly watch him try and button his shirt back up a dozen times while "selling".

I can't help but be annoyed that Mick's cage dive was usurped by an majorly inactive wrestler. It seemed like there was an airbag inside of the table. After the impact, watch the table closely; it slowly collapses as though something is deflating underneath it. I'm not saying that it didn't take guts, or that it wasn't dangerous. But, Mick Foley certainly didn't have an airbag to break his fall.

He probably shouldn't have even done it (though there was something under the table), but I have a lot of respect for the guy. As always, he had a fun doing more than necessary to entertain.
Also, I loved Cole's call of "for the love of Mankind." Good job on that one.

There were smoke and mirrors involved, that's for sure, but it was still an incredible sight and I'm not sure history is going to really care whether one was padded and the other wasn't, if Foley's fall were padded it would have still been a memorable, history making spot. For me it's more a matter of WWE not giving their own full time guys enough highlight reels for me to think it's productive to give a moment like this away to a guy who's had less matches in his lifetime than most guys have in a month who's already had a career of highlight reels, there's just no long term benefit. For Foley it was a career making performance that put a shot in the arm that carried him through the rest of his time active. For Shane McMahon it was a 46 year old man bailing his Dad out of a talent slump. This would be a lot more forgiving if it felt like they were actively trying to make everyone the way they made Shane McMahon tonight but they're not doing a good job in that respect, so Shane's treatment tonight just feels unfair to other guys who deserve better.

Besides the airbags, the top of the table was a large piece of thick black ring mat foam with cut outs for the monitors. Still a crazy spot, but not the same as Micks.

I think I'm glad Shane did this so no other wrestler will try to this again. Kurt Angle say hello
