If/when we get the inevitable Cena/Roman Reigns match (I guessing maybe Summer Slam), would there be a bit of a "role reversal" in the eyes of the hardcore IWC fans? I'm assuming that Reigns would still get massive heat regardless, but what about Cena? Would it be equal heat/boos? Or would he get cheered massively for once by the IWC just simply for the fact that he's going against Reigns?
Thoughts??

Probably, with a chance of definitely.
Since John added many more new and innovative moves in his moveset in the last years, like
-Tornado DDT -Dropkick -Sunset Flip/Powerbomb (the one that looks like a Canadian Destroyer) -Springboard Stunner (for this one he needs to drop the "Stunner" part and just go with a Springboard Back Elbow)
while Roman never has yet to improve his moveset, I think almost everyone will be on John's side.

You listen to his responses; the Cena sucks chants are almost cheers at this point; they're so tongue-in-cheek.

Yep. One thing you notice about Cena and Reigns is this: Reigns rarely gets the crowd back on his side by the end of the match, hell he never gets them back on his side in promos. Cena? By the end of most promos the crowd's back on his side, same with his matches and this dates back to the Rock and Punk feuds. The crowd always ends up loving him at the end of the day because of who he is, his talent and all he's worked hard for. Reigns? The same can't be said because they don't respect him and his push yet.
So yeah, Cena's getting those cheers.

NO they would do the "boo" "yeah!" punch bit and it would be "boo!" "boo!" Like the Opposite Land version of Shinsuke vs Sami. OT: I think he definitely would get more cheers than Roman. I mean...HHH got more cheers than Roman. I'd really like to see them try a returning heel Seth v Roman program, just for the lols at this point.

How the feud plays out and what city they happen to be in would need to be taken into account, but probably.

Imagine if getting cheered to that extent while Roman suffers the jeers he once did finally causes Cena to snap and turn heel.
Then when the crowd cheer him he gets angry, he could become the first heel that people boo by cheering.

I think we all know whose name gets cheered the loudest in John Cena vs. Roman Reigns.

Yes, with a but. Now, Cena would get cheered because absence makes the heart grow fonder, time has passed to make people forget how excruciating he can be and the alternative to Cena is worse, but if you put the Cena of 5 years ago against the Reigns of today it wouldn't be so clearcut.

It depends on the build honestly. If it was both guys respecting eachother? You both suck.
If Cena goes nuts on Reigns in a promo like he can. I can see Cena getting cheers.

You listen to his responses; the Cena sucks chants are almost cheers at this point; they're so tongue-in-cheek. Exactly. They are this generation's version of crowds chanting "You Suck!" during Kurt Angle;s entrance even when he was a babyface and the best worker in the company.

Definitely more pro- Cena. When he's boo'd I think it's because people don't like his current character. We want to see the company let him go and do HIS thing, not the corporate shill-boy thing. He could be a great smart ass babyface, a powerful, ruthless heel, whenever he throws back to the doctor of thuganomics it gets a huge pop. It's just the current direction. Like another poster said the boos are mostly tongue firmly implanted in cheek. People like John Cena the man.
Just don't like Reigns. Character or guy.

Plus at least he came up through the midcard, refining his craft before WWE crowned him as "the guy".
