Funny thing is a all female team has been done, it was in the comic series and it was well received because it was WELL WRITTEN and made sense, had none of the goofy humor the godawful trailer had. This just comes off as doing it for the sake of it (controversy is a hell of a marketing tool), I hope I'm wrong and it was just a case of "duff trailer but good movie". Success or flop either side will be assholes post release. The comics are good too That's fair, I quite liked the video game as well. I've liked all the GB videogames even the much maligned Nes game (I think it's easier to stomach now days), I'd say GB2 was the worst (Not the European one, that's great)

There's no way a majority of the hate is just from sexist men. It's a remake/reboot of a very beloved movie, it was gonna get shit on no matter what. And it just doesn't look that good. If it was starring the Adam Sandler crew it'd probably be even more hated. Imagining Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade and Chris Rock makes this so much worse. All four women has proven to be funny in other projects...this is not one of them. f*** it, I hope this movie becomes the most profitable comedy of all time. I hope it gets a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and makes like $200 million its first week, and holds onto the top spot for five straight weeks. I'm not even that interested in seeing it, but it'd be really funny if somehow this movie that's had so much attention and venom thrown its way somehow winds up being good in the end. I don't personally think it will, but it'd be awesome. You keep doing you man, it's a good look.

Look, if at any point you felt I was accusing you of being sexist or anti woman if you're not excited about the movie, I sincerely apologize. I was talking about YouTube commentators in my original post, not everyone at large who thinks the remake is bad idea as a whole. I tried to lighten the mood the best I could, but if you still think I'm some sort of an awful person because of my comments in this thread, I don't blame you because I know how stupid I probably sound.

All I know is that this forum is not really good when it comes to talking about Women things. Always gets angry. Nostradamus always comes through.

In the original Ghostbusters movie, most of the humor came from the witty dialogue and character interaction. Venkman getting slimed wasn't the reason why that scene was funny. Bill Murray's reaction to getting slimed, topped off with his deadpan "He slimed me", is what made the scene funny.
The trailer shows a remake completely void of all that witty dialogue. Instead they seem to be trying to derive all the humor out of over-the-top, Three Stooges-esque slapstick. And Leslie Jones being a racist caricature. This is why nobody liked it.

Thing is, for a long while people DID want a Ghostbusters 3. If people stopped clamoring for it, it was likely only because of Harold Ramis' passing. I'm no Ghostbusters expert or anything, but is this considered akin to a third movie? I'm not looking at it that way, personally. I see it more as one of those re-imaginings. Again, though, me =/= Ghostbusters expert. The video game from a few years back is considered by Dan Ackroyd and Ivan Reitman to be the "official" Ghostbusters 3. This new movie seems to be straddling the line between sequel and reboot. While the opening card of the trailer acknowledges the actions of the original team, if the leaked plot is to be believed the movie is a straight up reboot and the opening chapter in a multi-team Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe. {Spoiler}Also Ackroyd, Murray, Hudson, Potts, and Weaver all have cameos in the new movie, reportedly playing completely new characters (including Murray as a skeptic who believes the Ghostbusters are frauds).

Watched the trailer for the first time.
Yeah, it looks stupid, and that has nothing to do with gender. But its not the worst thing I've ever seen.
In a way I hope this movie proves people and actually ends up being pretty good.

The worst thing you can do is not make sure you are a reboot or a sequel, and just try to fit both. It is always awful

And most of that is based around trolls going "hurr durr, womenz sure are lame, amirightguys?" as opposed to any real concerns about the movie. There's still a large, level-headed group of people who are simply against the idea of rebooting something they feel didn't need it. My wife and sister were both disgusted by the idea of Ghostbusters being remade/rebooted, men, women, or otherwise. I know I want nothing to do with it, and I'm not a troll or sexist. I just think the magic of Ghostbusters was the original cast, not the premise.

It's only natural you're gonna be the bad guy if you feel the need to schoolmarm absolutely everything. It's annoying. You gotta pick your battles. This movie ain't worth it. It'll stink and then everyone will forget it ever happened in a week or two's time. I still think you're neat. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

All I know is that I'm a massive fan of stand up comedy. I've watched thousands upon thousands of hours of it from hundreds of comedians. Next to wrestling it's probably the biggest piece on the pie graph of my spent free time.
Of my 4 favorite comedians, 2 are women and 2 are men (with the 5th being a transvestite).
But, according to the marketing (and people justicey enough to jump on that bandwagon), if I don't love this movie evidently I'm a f***ing sexist pig who thinks females can't be funny.
...
I hate what this world is becoming.

It's more suspicious to me that this trailer would be the one that would get the most dislikes.
Like...not Pixels? Not Grown Ups 2? Not ANY of the Transformers movies? Or the TMNT ones?
Not even the Fantastic Four movie? Not even Batman vs. Superman, apparently the worst superhero movie ever and thing that'll kill all DC Comic book movies forever (may or may not be hyperbole)?
Like...that's what makes it suspicious. Is the trailer any worse then any other movie out since YouTube put in the Like/Dislike option? No way.

You have to keep in mind though that it's also a very, very long in the waiting new spin on a franchise that's been huge for decades and that people have been dying to see more of. People were going to be savage on it going in no matter what happened given how wildly different it is from the other movies. General expectation is something like Grown Ups 2 will be garbage, while some people've spent their entire lives wishing for an amazing new Ghostbusters which doesn't seem to be happening.

Except it feels bizarre when there have been worse trailers on franchises that have made more money. People would have noticed the reaction to Transformers 4 if more people disliked it rather than just going on the internet, ranting about it and wondering why people are going to see it anyway and why Transformers 5 is happening. Like...why now? Why the amount of dislike for this one trailer? Why not do it for every trailer that is of a potentially bad remake? Wouldn't that send more of a consistent message instead of sighing and wondering why it keeps happening?
