Always thought the guys was really overrated, creative tried to give him personalities. Dude was boring and doesn't stand out at all compared to the current roster.

I like him fine in Suzuki-gun, don't need to see him back in WWE having 3 minute matches with Tyler Breeze on Main Event

Many chances, managers, looks, etc. He didn't even stand out in wwecw Hell, I remember they billed his ladder match with Christian at TLC 2009 as one of the "marquee" matches even though the ECW Championship had long fallen in prestige by that point.

I'm a Shelton fan. I'd love to see him back, particularly since, to be honest, him being older means he'll probably have a little more edge to him than just the cocky athlete or the blue chipper, I want him as a veteran. Beyond that, in addition to being good, he's also a friend of Brock's. Can't really hurt to appease the big guy with a reasonable hire.

This ship has sailed
He's even older than AJ, Joe and Nakamura, had a long WWE run anyway and wouldn't really stand out nowadays
Hard pass

"Return? He's currently single-handedly the tag team champions." - Vince McMahon I thought we were told to drop this "joke". Excellent statement, Shelton.

Haven't seen him and Charlie Hass in years but if they can still go I'd love to see TWGTT vs American Alpha. If God exists, that match would be a merciless but cheerful squash. There simply isn't a nostalgia movement for f***ing 2005. Shelton was fine. But now we have a shitload of people who are better than him at more or less everything.

Good in the ring but that was it. I don't imagine anyone except the OP is desperate to see him back again. Shelton wasn't exactly setting things on fire the years he was there when he was in his prime, why hire him back now? Because he took to the indies to work on the areas he was lacking and is now a great promo to go with what a fantastic ring worker he's always been. I'm not trying to doubt you or go against what you're saying, but do you have an example of his "great" promo work? While I always really liked Shelton, his mic work, I thought, was horrible...and from the stuff I saw from him post-WWE, it didn't get much better. I'm very interested in a great promo by him so that I can like him even more and see some potential in that area.

He dropped the quiet intense / shouting forced-boisterous approach to a more baritone conversational style. He has a great natural voice and finally started playing to it without being overly-serious. It especially worked live.

Vince,"We've already got too many Sheltons as it is." yeah, I said in another thread no more of this casual racist they all look a like shit. It's a joke from Vince! Yeah, don't care. It's still making some of our posters uncomfortable. This is my last warning. No more. It's done. STOP IT EVERYONE.

I was following ROH at the time and honestly didn't enjoy his run too much, which I know I'm probably in the minority in saying so. But then again, I was down on ROH as a whole during that time. Maybe I can look at it with clearer eyes now.

I swear it beens longer than six years Wrestling time is fast time, as WWE has to fill hours of content every single week without a break. Compared to regular TV, which takes 4-6 months off a year, it's no wonder that wrestling stuff from yesterday feels like forever ago. As for Shelton, talented guy, I'd be curious to see how his mic skills have improved, but I'd rather WWE look to the future than to the past for new talent. Though Benjamin indeed could work a journeyman veteran gimmick will in today's WWE climate.

From a pure wrestling standpoint, yes, the matches he could have would be fantastic now.
But he cut promos poorly, often times talked like he had marbles in his mouth. And he had the charisma of a cardboard box.
he would have been a megastar if he had a tenth of the ability to project outside of his natural talent.
