I noticed that this movie is actually a go as there is already a release date set for this coming January. After so long since the much-maligned sequel that starred Ice Cube (Which I actually liked, by the way), I wonder if there is much of an audience for this or if audiences even care for a sequel at this point. It could be done right for all we know, but I just hope we don't get a lot of attempts to be hip like the very first film did. I remember how the first film was advertised as this "new breed of secret agent," which was the film's tagline. I remember the director said that he was trying to pay homage to James Bond, but it almost felt like the film made fun of it and it feels kind of dated now.
I am going to give it a chance, though. I mean despite my issues with the first film, I still enjoyed the action and the stunts. I also liked the sequel, even though it's more disliked by the masses than liked. I just wonder if it was put in January for a reason, even though it is not really considered a dump month these days. My guess is that it won't coincide with Fast 8, which comes out in the spring of next year.

It took them long enough! I never even heard of the supposed sequel staring Ice Cube; the last xXx film I remember seeing was the first one, and that came out circa 2001!

So, I guess Vin Diesel is getting sued over this one.
A man named George Zakk insists he worked for Vin Diesel’s production company One Race Films, helping to develop projects. In exchange, Zakk was supposed to receive producers’ credits and a fee between $250,000 and $275,000. Zakk stopped working with Diesel in 2007 but believes the contractual agreement with the production company included sequels to films he helped develop for Vin Diesel, where the actor also starred in and produced.
Since xXx 3 is currently scheduled for release in January, George Zakk is adamant he’s owed a $275,000 fee and an executive producer’s credit.
Diesel hasn't responded yet but the lawsuit won't affect the films release.

Didn't they kill of Xander in the second one out of Pettiness... or was that just a deleted scene.

Well, there was a mini-film in the extras of the director's cut DVD of the first film that has Xander getting killed. However, there has been talk for a third for years and also, some characters are brought back with some explanation. |

I think it looks great. Loved the first xXx and the second one was alright. I find it funny too how Vin Diesel seems to have far more dialogue in this than he does in any of the last 4 F&F movies.
Also, it's amusing how difficult it can be to Google xXx and not get... unwanted results.

I vaguely remember at the time the first movie came out that Vin might have claimed that XXX was going to replace James Bond as THE spy franchise for the new millennium.
I only recall it because I remember laughing so much my stomach started hurting.
