Extreme Rules has come and gone, but now we must look to The Future. Not just tonight on Raw in Baltimore, but also Seth Rollins, who made his return after Roman Reigns retained his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against AJ Styles. Rollins left no doubt as to his intentions, planting the champion with a Pedigree and holding the title high into the air. How will the former champion fit into the title picture, given that he never lost the title, but will the champion or the former Phenomenal challenger have anything to say about his presence, given that the feud between The Club and The Usos may have cost Styles yet another chance at the title?
Speaking of Seth Rollins and the WWE World title picture, the next PPV on the calendar is Money in the Bank, which features the eponymous Money in the Bank Ladder match, which grants the winner a title shot at any time in the following 365 days. The return of former Money in the Bank winner Seth Rollins underscores how important that briefcase and contract are, so will we get an idea of who will be participating in this year's match?
In Women's Title news, Charlotte would defeat Natalya in their Submission match at Extreme Rules, but not with help from an unusual source yet again. Ric Flair may have been banned from ringside, but the iconic theme "Also Sprach Zarathustra" would play in the arena at a pivotal point in the match, but it turned out to be a distraction at the hands of Dana Brooke, allowing Charlotte to lock in the Figure 8 for the controversial victory. What is next for the Women's Division now that Dana Brooke has aligned with the Flairs?
We also saw the Tag Team titles defended last night, as The New Day turned back the challenge of the Booty Os tournament winners The Vaudevillians. The men from the bygone era may have been vanquished for now, but don't expect them to take the interference of the third man in Kofi Kingston lying down. In addition, there's some new potential challenges that the New Day haven't faced yet, such as The Club who vanquished The Usos in a Tornado Match, or the Shining Stars looking to (re?)establish themselves in the tag team hunt. There's the Dudleys who scored a non-title victory a couple weeks ago, and there's Big Cass who laid out the Dudleys last night on the Kickoff Show single-handedly. What could he accomplish when Enzo Amore makes his return?
As far as the other singles titles go, The Intercontintental title match stole the show last night in an amazing, but it was Sami Zayn who let his animosity towards Kevin Owens get the best of him, pounding on his rival while The Miz scavenged a victory on Cesaro who was still unconscious from a Helluva Kick. Meanwhile, Rusev become a two time champion with a dominant win over the injured Kalisto, refusing to let the referee check on Kalisto and instead locking in a gruesome Accolade. What is the next for the kings of the midcard, especially with the return of former US champion John Cena on the horizon? What about former US and IC champion Dean Ambrose, who settled the score with his rival Chris Jericho in The Asylum?
All of this, and perhaps a very familiar staircase, tonight on the USA Network at 8PM EDT. And after the show, be sure to log into the WWE Network for Mick Foley's interview with Shane McMahon!
