I like both those guys. I guess they'll still do Highly Questionable, where Bomani was co-host before, and they can still do Around The Horn and fill in for Mike or Tony on PTI.
I really miss the days when ESPN and SportsCenter really were the Worldwide Leader in Sports. I wanted to be an ESPN anchor in high school, so I took a ton of writing, speaking, and media classes in school and college. Now, I wouldn't want to be there at all.

I love the show and bummed its getting canceled. Always liked Bomani, Never been a fan of Pablo. "Get up" isn't averaging much more than "High Noon". Oh well probably see Bomani with Dan more often now. Somehow ATH is still going.

A huge problem that ESPN has and sports in general is all of the shows being legit staged to setup arguments, that gets old to watch real fast.

A huge problem that ESPN has and sports in general is all of the shows being legit staged to setup arguments, that gets old to watch real fast. The one driving me nuts right now is the "ZION SHOULD WIN ROOKIE OF THE YEAR" crap. He's going to end up playing in well less than half a season. If somebody was calling for an NFL player to win rookie of the year with only like 6 games played total (only only playing in like 2-3 quarters each of those games) they'd get laughed off of TV within 15 seconds. Yet on ESPN they're given a ten minute segment showcase.

I guess the problem I start to have with these types of shows is, why exactly do I care what any these guys think on any topic?
Especially when it's obvious that they are given points to argue beforehand.

all ESPN talk shows are pretty much the same
one guy will yell like a nut, the other person will respond in kind
they'll cover a topic and keep going in that circle
then literally every other show will have others arguing the same points over and over again

Bingo..... if not for this crap, I wouldn't have to hear about stupid Skip Bayless. I think Stephen A. can be legit when he isn't trying so hard to be "that guy". I know Bayless was a respected journalist back in the day, but he is SO far from that, it's ridiculous.

ESPN wants you to believe these guys are experts in sports and not the clowns that we (and a majority of regular people) see them as.

He had a year to sit and take in being a pro, got to travel, and work out with the NBA's best trainers and so on. I don't give a shit what the argument is, HE DIDN'T PLAY HIS ROOKIE YEAR, therefore...you don't get to win Rookie of the Year. And I'm a 76ers fan.

Meanwhile on FS1, First Things First has some Mark Brunell looking dude as the permanent replacement for Cris Carter, and boy does he need some seasoning.
He hardly says anything.

I agree but still, your rookie year is your first year of playing professional basketball, not just your first year in general I think the rule is more dumb for international players who have played in professional leagues

Like Ichiro Suzuki and Shohei Ohtani (and Hideki Matsui being in the running) winning ROTY despite being seasoned veterans of the Japanese leagues.

Yea, that's what I was thinking of when I was making that point of reference as you see it a lot in MLB when players cross over from the Japanese league NBA you see it as well but usually but top international players usually come when they are young as opposed to season vets like Suzuki, Darvish etc

Especially when it's obvious that they are given points to argue beforehand. This is a major issue for me with ESPN as well. It’s an agenda-driven network that will push whichever narratives they want and then have talking heads argue differing points about said narratives. Rinse and repeat. I respect Stephen A’s hustle and work ethic but the man’s sports points are usually really bad with him mispronouncing names, making stupid hot takes with no basis in reality, and basically being paid millions of dollars so people on Twitter can use him as a reaction meme. I’m in my 30’s and technically a millennial and yet even I’m too old for this shit. Give me sports analysis that is unbiased, informative, and entertaining. It shouldn’t be that hard. Unfortunately ESPN is lost when the topic isn’t LBJ, NFL, or “who is the best player in the world” every day.

Unfortunately ESPN is lost when the topic isn’t LBJ, NFL, or “who is the best player in the world” every day. That's the crux of the issue for me. I miss the days of listening to people with actual qualifications giving me their actual opinions. ESPN is based now on manufactured arguments, and it goes further than First Take. Their whole afternoon line-up is a bunch of gasbags arguing talking points mandated by higher-ups. So it's just the same droning on every day. I'd much rather go on YT and listen to Josh Lloyd (though he is very fantasy-relevant) or The Hockey Guy about the actual sports and players, rather than listen to "personalities" spout an "opinion" they don't believe over a "storyline" that they created. The problem is too many other people are buying, and not even understanding what ESPN is selling. Or they're just idiots who really want to talk about if LeBron is the greatest player every day of their lives.

And it started going that way a few years ago when Skip went on his full week rants about Tim Tebow and that's around the time Stephen A was out of ESPN and only around as a guest commentator Skip talking about Tebow got them plays and it trickled down to everyone else. Add on that it was being mandated from the top and everyone had to follow. It is basically a running joke now like if Pelicans play Orlando and lose, you're going to see 3 Zion dunks and no Orlando highlights. Things like that is why people tend to lose interest Jamele and Mike had a good thing going before they put them on SC and lost the spirit of the show. Add on Jamele not being able to keep herself out of trouble. Shows like Get Up have no real interest. They have made it "better" over time but I still don't see why they couldn't keep Golic on with Greeny as Greeny by himself is just bland

The homogenization of ESPN programming went into overdrive when John Skipper had to resign to deal with his drug addiction issues. Jimmy Pitaro and Norby Williamson are incredibly unimaginative and unfortunately they're the ones in charge now.

And then they started hiring guys like Will Cain who comes on TV with a gimmick to just be an antagonist or take the other side and be an instant channel changer

The only time I really liked Will Cain is when he jokingly played along with being antagonist with the LeBatard crew. Otherwise, I can't stand him.
