So this came out today on Netflix, anyone else see it yet? I've watched the hour-long pilot and second episodes. So far, this show is great! Reminds me a little of when I first watched Avatar: The Last Airbender. Of course, part of that is because it was animated by Studio Mir but I digress. Anyway, really loving Lance so far and both Zarcan and Hagar look awesome.

I came here to post about it too. I watched the pilot and the second episode after that. Character designs for the humans pretty much pay homage to the originals, and it's a good "American anime" style like Avatar/Korra. Allura's new characterization took a while to get used to, but I did so quickly...and Coran is just awesome now. Gotta get used to Voltron's new look, having an all-black chest.
I like how they're not just jumping into "Robeast of the day, form Voltron, end of fight" and putting effort in the team having to learn how to properly form the robot. The organic element of each lion could be interesting too.
Now here's something that actually played off something I once theorized when I became aware of Golion...on the new series, the pilots' lions match their uniform colors. So Shiro is the leader with the black lion, and so forth and so on. For a while I wondered if the US version of Golion swapped pilots and lions for whatever the reason because of the discrepancy in the colors, which would make sense as Shiro would have the black lion and he was killed, giving it over to Allura because she's the princess and all. But no, it does match between Golion and Voltron '84.

What is this? Like the third or fourth attempt to revive this series in the last 20 years? I'm surprised anybody would consider it worth it anymore.

Watched the first episode about an hour or so ago, I like it. I'll give the rest a watch. Makes me think about the old Cartoon Network days when it was on in the morning along with Ronin Warriors.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe - 1984 Voltron: The Third Dimension - 1998 Voltron Force - 2011 Voltron: Legendary Defender - 2016 While Third Dimension and Force were both continuations of the original show, the new show is a full-on reboot. No prior Voltron knowledge is required.

Just binge-watched the entire series.
It's not bad... but I felt like there was a lot of stuff setup this season especially compared to the amount that felt got accomplished.

I'm eager to check it out. Cool to hear they bother to learn how to pilot it, that's something that isn't always handled well, especially in combiner series. I don't expect most of them to take it to the extreme Dancougar did, where they didn't even FORM Dancougar for most of the series, only doing it after like the halfway point, but still.

Well yeah, but I can only really judge on what we have available now Though from what I vaguely remember critics had similar response to Avatar Season 1 as well... so...

Is now waiting for the S-J-you know whats to catch wind of this and cause another politicizing of an 80s icon.
Now....if "Katie" is also known as "Pidge," does that mean that eventually, her brother Matt will adopt a nickname? Like, say, "Chip"?
