Was anyone ever into sports trading cards (or are you still a collector)? I have a pretty sizable collection, unfortunately they're mostly from the mid-80s/early 90s when the cards were overprinted to the extreme (the oldest card i think i have is a 1975 Angels team card). Never checked the values of them but i unfortunately bought into the hype of "hot" players who didnt end up doing much.

Yep, I still do.
Although thanks to Panini getting the exclusives with NFL and NBA, my future collecting is just going to be baseball, wrestling, and entertainment. About the only set of Panini's stuff I like is Americana.

had a few scottish football cards from the late seventies, but would say i really collected them, as i was more wanting top trumps and other collectable cards ..... more of a football sticker man myself from 1978 to 1985

About the only set of Panini's stuff I like is Americana. That sucks. I used to like Panini, but they've worn very thin on me. There's three things that they do that people don't like that is pretty much a staple of 2/3rds of their products. Sticker autos (which I understand, but they seem to be more egregious than Topps/UD), manufactured patches (inexcusable), and redemptions (waaaaaaaayyyyy too many in like every product). I collected football and baseball mostly in the 90's until about 03. Sweet Spot and Legendary Cuts were amazing at the time. I got back into it around 2011 and mostly do hockey now. It's more niche than baseball or football, but it seems to be more steady.

I had tons as a kid and I'm pretty sure my parents haven't thrown them out yet.
I had a couple of pretty valuable cards in the bunch: I had a Mario Lemieux rookie, a Brett Hull rookie, a Ken Griffey, Jr. rookie. Some early MJ and Wayne Gretzky cards.
Oh, I also have the infamous Billy Ripken "f***face" card.

I have a bunch of Topps and Upper Deck baseball cards from the late 80's and early 90's along with a few football and basketball cards. Some notable cards I have include Bernie Williams and Ken Griffey Jr. rookie cards, a Brett Favre rookie card, and a few cards of Chipper Jones as a "top prospect" from when he was still in the minors.

I have a ton from the mid 80s to mid 90s. I have been toying with trying to sell them, but I don't even know where to start...

I have a ton from the mid 80s to mid 90s. I have been toying with trying to sell them, but I don't even know where to start... The only ones you'll be able to get rid of are 92 Bowman baseball, 93 Finest baseball, 92 Fleer Update Piazza, 1991 Topps Baseball Desert Storm/Shield, Topps Tiffany sets, 1989 Score football, Jeter rookies, 1992 Stadium Club Favre, and Michael Jordans. That era was insanely overproduced to the point where you can pick up high grade rookies for about $20. Hell there are Barry Bonds 1986 cards graded PSA 9 all over eBay for less than $20. Even the once heralded 89 Upper Deck Griffey isn't worth half as much as it used to be, thanks to production being higher than though, and Upper Deck backdooring them to dealers.

Like i said in my first post, cards from that era were notoriously overproduced, so you wont get much for individual cards, i'd reccomend selling them in a lot (but dont expect to get too much).

Yeah, I did some basic research a few years ago on what I could get for a few things. Seeing that it wasn't too much, I put it on the back burner.

Those unopened boxes and cases from years ago (over 10 or 15) that you can't get anywhere anymore are worth a ton to collectors who will pretty much never get another chance to open that product. Especially products like SP and Finest. The great thing about those is that they're only going to get more rare and more valuable.

Not sure half the boxes are what we paid for them, but theyre not going anywhere

Yeah, a sealed case of 1993 SP baseball might pay for a car, and 93 Finest baseball has gotten red hot in the last year or so.

For those who collect cards, Ben Simmons dropped a massive bomb on Panini by signing an exclusive memorabilia and autographed card deal with Upper Deck.
