2014 was a pretty crazy freaking year. Examples: Ultimate Warrior reconciled with WWE and pretty much delivered his own eulogy on RAW. The crowd basically hijacked WWE's plan with their rejection of Big Dave and support for Daniel Bryan. CM Punk walked out months before the biggest show of the year. There was a rare spring cleaning that saw dozens of stars released. And these are just a few examples!
But so far, 2016 looks pretty well set as one of the most bats*** insane years I can think of. Starting with the ever present injury curse that, among other things, saw Seth Rollins lose the belt without ever getting pinned. The crowd utterly rejecting Roman Reigns (again) no matter how hard WWE has tried to push him. Daniel Bryan having to officially retire. Sting also finally calls it in and retires. Shane McMahon returns to tv. AJ styles finally debuts in WWE. Naka-freaking-mura debuts in WWE. A new brand split is announced. And now, Roman Reigns gets suspended for wellness and Paige may have some legal woes of her own going on! This is like Ozzy Osbourne's crazy train on steroids!

Rollins's injury is from last year, but I see what you're getting at. It has been a crazy year so far and we're only at the half way point. Hell, one of the most talked about match ups is about to happen on a throwaway PPV and one of the participants will have to miss the buildup to it due to suspension.

Wait, Paige really is in legal trouble?! My attention's been on Roman's thread. I still can't believe Shane came back just a short while after Bryan had to retire. As someone in the Raw thread for that night, Shane was gone so long he missed Bryan's entire WWE career.

What's going on with the Jimmy Snuka trial nowadays?

WWEs in storyline stuff in 2014 was insane. DB winning title. The streak ending. Cena squashed at Summerslam. Sting debuts in WWE. If the rumble had a huge moment, this would have easily been the year with the biggest moments on the big four...

The firings of Damien Sandow and several others, the deaths of Chyna and Ali (both important parts of WWE history), the unprecedented Cruiserweight Challenge event, Brock returning to UFC, Shaqille O'Neal's surprise debut as a wrestler, Lawler's situation, the Cody Rhodes saga taking on a life of its own, one of their HOF'ers in a trainwreck race-related trial, another barely escaping a murder trial, a third running for president and a fourth making her first professional porn film, the passing of two vocalists responsible for singing HHH to the ring for 96% of his career (I don't care of it was technically 3 days before 2016, I'm counting Lemmy), the bizarre Titus O'Neal suspension...

What's going on with the Jimmy Snuka trial nowadays? He was deemed incompetent to stand trial, probably in part due to him being probably terminally ill at this point.

I'd say it is. Most of what you mentioned from 2014 was pre-Mania. Plus, maybe it's just me, but I always got the idea CM Punk would inevitably just bolt. Me and Groose would discuss how we're just gonna wake up one day and he'll be gone, because there's no way someone as fickle as he was about his pushes would take losing to part-timers and the other main eventers. He said in that podcast he was pissed over not figuring into the WM plans and not winning the Rumble, but in that entire year leading up he HAD to know going into the Rumble the WWE was less buy and more sell with him. I always found it funny he fussed about his placement on the card though...on my Timehop a few days ago I noticed that in 2012 I RT'd him saying something about only geeks with nothing better to do cared about things like "card placement", and yet he acts like that WM main event was a MAJOR tipping point for him. Long story short, IMO, CM Punk's career was always on a timer, and if his contract really was set to expire that year, then it wasn't shocking at all.
But yeah, 2016 has been much wilder...and honestly, better. Now, don't get me wrong, the deaths and other bad things are still bad. But the good things going on are SO MUCH better than the good things in 2014, where the best event was them putting the title on someone that, even before his injury, clearly did not have the machine behind him and was likely not going to get a good run. Hell, I'd put Ambrose winning over Bryan winning if only because I feel they have a lot more faith in Ambrose than they ever did Bryan, plus they had no convoluted grand scheme. They might think Reigns is "the guy", but they honestly thought, come hell or high water, people would want to see Orton/Batista. And Vince is a man that when he has a match (not a push, but a match) in mind, he will throw any and all logic out of the window in building the match just to get it booked.
And we still have a lot of year to go. Balor will be up before the end of the year, and if they're smart then Nakamura, Joe, and Bayley won't be far behind. And who knows how they handle Reigns. A lot of people think this could be the end of his "face of the company" run, but if Orton can win the world title after how many suspensions, then I'm not convinced one suspension dooms Reigns from ever being the figurehead of WWE. But it'll be interesting to see how that's handled. I wasn't sold on the roster split being a big thing, but they are treating it like the WWE is truly gonna change forever. We'll need to see if they commit to it and not have people crossing over between shoes 2-3 weeks after the draft.

More insanity I had forgotten. We are only halfway through the year and it already been a roller coaster ride from hell.
