I put on FS1 since there was no games on and I didn't want to watch ESPN. There was a show called Garbage Time with Katie Nolan and afterwards was TMZ sports. Of course we know what TMZ sports would be, and Garbage Time was pretty much the same thing. Shows that aren't about sports, but stories of the athletes and their fans outside of the game itself. Very recently there was thread on ESPN doing the same thing and trying to get people tied up on these stories and not the games themselves. With FS1 replicating the same style, but in a much more obvious way and not as well produced, it does remind me of TNA. They replicate the WWE, but do it in a much poorer fashion. Add that to the fact that they are paying big money former ESPN stars, instead of creating their own and the connection is complete.

In terms of ideals, yeah. They're trying to be a trashier ESPN. The sports news climate is just garbage to begin with. FS1 is just as unwatchable as ESPN, probably worse. At least ESPN has Highly Questionable.

Yeah it's bad because ESPN is terrible but FS1 at less are not in debt. The only time I really pay attention to non games sports related shows is the local shows on ESPN radio. The two I listen too when working anyway starts at 1pm and the other at 3pm. ESPN radio shows that all non local are bad. First and last still AFTER the Playoffs ended been a week on kissing Labron's ass. There show is two hours and they spend non more then five mins in a hour period not talking about the NBA. Even then they still manager to name drop Curry or James in that topic.
Even when the crowning of the Stanley Cup champion WHICH IMO is BIGGER news then a playoff NBA Game, because the NHL has a major fan base. They STILL barely talked about it. All it was is Labron this and Curry that. Five mins of "Hot topics" 1 min about the Stanley Cup and back to the NBA again.
Two days after the NBA title win, THEY still spending all there time talking about the NBA. Like really? No other things to talk about? It's horrible.

They're grossly overpaying Skip Bayless much like TNA did with Hogan.

They do a much better job of NHRA coverage than ESPN did. So they got a pass from me.

They do a much better job of NHRA coverage than ESPN did. So they got a pass from me. They actually do a good job of covering sports. The UFC coverage is very good. I like their baseball and soccer coverage as well. Although MLB Network clearly wins in the baseball department. But their program layout is very similar to ESPN, only a poor man's version(despite the fact that ESPN is hemorrhaging money). I will say, I prefer Fox Sports Radio to ESPN radio. They seem to have more freedom and it doesn't have the feel of pushing an agenda. Actually of the big three, my favorite is NBC sports, because they just cover sports. They do have Dan Patrick in the morning, but I like Dan Patrick and it isn't by surrounded by garbage tv. I also love the Men in Blazers show.

As far as sports coverage, they're okay, I guess.
But as far as constantly hiring ESPN outcasts for the sake of it? They suck at that. Plus, when you have 14,000 programs, there's a high sense of disorganization.
NBC Sports may not have the content, but they are no nonsense.

I've thought for quite some time that leaving ESPN for elsewhere is like leaving WWE for elsewhere (primarily TNA). All of a sudden you're way off the radar.
I do like what NBC is doing, they might have stumbled into being primarily about niche sports, but it works.

I don't think her show is tabloidy at all. I think it's actually pretty ambitious cause she is largely trying to carve a sports Comedy Niche that doesn't really exist yet when even talented people like Norm MacDonald and The Onion have failed trying to do that on tv.

I agree about NBC SN, they are certainly becoming a true alternative by covering a multitude of niche sports. Not everything they cover is for everyone, but they have something for everyone.

I know NBC's NASCAR coverage is 1000 times better than FOX's My brother hates Fox Sports 1 and will be so happy to follow all the remaining NASCAR races on NBC Sports Network & NBC. They do prioritize NASCAR with original programming, along with the NHL. It's mostly niche things, but NBC Sports has been doing them well, that's for darn sure.

NBC Sports Network has done a fantastic job focusing more on the sports and less on the personalities. The NHL and Premier League may not draw tens of millions of viewers, but the ratings have been solid. And they're not spending millions on shit stirrers who couldn't correctly predict if the sun will rise tomorrow morning.
