No chance we're getting Wind Waker and Twilight Princess with TotK on the way so not a lot I'm really hoping for out of this one. Guess Gamecube games or a port of the Zero Escape games would be neat, maybe finally getting Mario RPG up, but seems like it's likely pretty much a wash of a Direct for me.

Doubtful. DS and PS2 are only a million or two apart and I can’t see the Switch selling 30 million+ more consoles before the end of its lifespan. I think it stays in third If Nintendo really wanted to do that, they'd drop the price of all versions of the console by the equivalent of 50€ for each country or some other aggressive marketing strategy. But I'm thinking they're good making bank on it as it is now. That’s another factor, which actually makes the performance of the PS4 and Switch even more impressive. By 5 years in, DS and PS2 were down to like $99 but Switch and PS4 never had a full price drop from what I remember

As far as the Direct, I'm a bit ambivalent about it. The one last September was kind of revelatory in regards to what Nintendo was choosing to promote (and arguably work on in general), and has solidified a sense in to strongly keep expectations in check and I'm just hoping I can can get one or two updates on things that might look intriguing. The kind of franchise revivals/sequels I'm interested in don't appear to be a priority and I'm not keen on once again getting my hopes up about finally getting the Switch reveals that I've been waiting on. If there's cool stuff great, but I don't think strong hype is coming back for me until the next console, though I do hope others are able to keep their excitement up.

There is a potential leaked Pikmin 4 date going around, though I have my doubts since it's just two weeks after Tears of the Kingdom. Would effectively be throwing it to the wolves.
Though on the subject of Pikmin 4... I dunno. I made a run at Pikmin 3 last year and wound up really, really liking it, but I don't know that I'm really looking to buy another for the time being. Might wait for a sale.

Taking a break from Engage to play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. I should probably do the same, got it for Christmas but not really gotten around to it yet. Granted I've not been playing a super huge amount of Engage anyway, think I'm on chapter 15 and been very on and off with playing it. Kind of already decided that this is a game I can see myself revisiting at some point but it's going to be a lot more of a Fates, "Maybe I'll come back to it in a few years," thing rather than something I revisit over and over like Awakening and Three Houses.

eShop listing for Tears of the Kingdom has it listed as $70, which is a firm, "Well f*** right off with that game then," for me, though predictably people are tripping over themselves to go, "Well actually it's okay that this game made off the bones of one already made that is guaranteed to make money hand over fist is going to cost extra because the first one was so good!" because Nintendo can do no wrong with their constant corporate vampirism.

Retail sites have it at 59.99 for the moment, so at least the physical's not bumped yet.

Amazon, Gamestop, and Best Buy have all pulled being able to preorder TotK so yeah, f*** this game. I might get it used or as part of the voucher program or half-and-half with a friend but I'm not spending $70 on a six year later asset flip.

I'll just buy it using gift card credit from donating platelets. That's how I got Pokemon Scarlet and some other games.

I was wondering why they brought the vouchers back. Going to be much easier to spin all of this if that's a voucher game at launch.
