It's weird. The things that used to make him laugh are now frustrating him--I think he wants to do more creative stuff but doesn't really see that it's ok to sit back and not take some of the more minor grievances (gotz and cote) too seriously because they make the show work.
If it's rooted in the ESPN higher ups silencing the election stuff then that's bullshit--every other show did giant segments on locker room talk yesterday.
I do think he's depressed though. You don't bring up binge drinking that much if you don't engage in it.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the death of Jose Fernandez, which he seemed to be very affected by. The guy seems 100% less happy-go-lucky than he used to be.

I think there's a personal aspect with Fernandez, probably a breakup, Cuba, the election--etc., that are bugging him personally, but the more you look at it I think going national has caused problems for the show (Mike dropped a hint during the marriage counselor segment). He feels like he has to constantly explain inside jokes and gags to unfamiliar listeners, Stugotz has to get more live-reads which he botches and still gets love for, etc., whereas in the previous time slot he probably felt less stress. I dunno, they seem to be trying to have fun with the whole fighting thing so I hope it works out that way.

Maybe I'm alone, but I'm not huge on Stugotz. He seems more reliant on the more charismatic and poignant LeBatard, and just hasn't filled out his own place yet. I also hate his segment with the beeps. You don't need *beep* to stop *beep* every 3 seconds *beep* for a gimmick *beep* just to finish *beep* one sentence *beep*. He's more of a curmudgeon, and yeah, if they do end up parting ways I'd love to see LeBatard with someone else. Say what you want about Mike and Mike, but at least they have chemistry.

Damn, haven't heard a radio host that pissed off in a while.
real fun starts about 33:25
Long story short, Dan and a reporter from the Miami Herald talk about a court case involving underground plastic surgery and a mangled penis. Management threatens to pull the show and Dan rants on them.

I think he was pissed because it was 790---they have stuck by him and been very hands off when he gets to touchy subjects. I think he would expect it from ESPN, but when 790 interfered he felt betrayed. To be honest I think he really wants to be fired so he can just do a standalone podcast. I kinda want that but it wouldn't be the same if he couldn't bring the rest of the cast with him.

I just watched yesterday's show, and between the Sonnen interview and the "Most shocked you've ever been" segment turning into a hilarious wrestling bit, I'd have the say that's the most entertaining one yet.

I use to listen to LeBatard when we had ESPN radio. Then we got CBS and Fox Sports radio and now I'm stuck with Jim Rome and Colin Cowherd. I miss you Dan.

Rome and Cowherad are my only choices as well. I hate them both but what i most dislike about them is Cowherd makes insane metaphors and takes forever to make a poorly thought out point and Rome writes 8 jokes on a subject and instead of picking the best one tells all of them each one equally unfunny.

The show is moving to ESPN2 Good. It was way too good for ESPNU to begin with. Also, a really weird channel to put it on when they spend so much time ripping the farce that is college athletics. It's a natural follow to Mike & Mike, although I can't imagine the overlapping audience is all that much.

I gotta take a break from the show. It's great, but it's just a little too shoved up it's own ass. Stugotz making a joke and then shoving his head behind a wall to preserve the silence after the joke is just so over the top. In small doses, this show is endearing, but it really wears on me sometimes. Especially Stugotz. A LeBatard/Ryan show would be perfection. Soar high, Stu.

The show is starting to lose its luster. Between Dan always being involved in some shit and Stu being Stu sometimes it just comes across as its on autopilot. Idk if Dan thinks he is invincible at ESPN but he has to cool it with the shit stiring
