I'm calling it now: At some point in the 24 hours after Raw airs, WWE PR will release a statement of some sort apologizing to their viewers across the globe for something or another that happens on the show. If WWE ever plans to truly go global like they're currently attempting, they *have* to ditch this sort of thing and mentality. That, and starting big PPVs with Star Spangled Banner or America the Beautiful and then harping on about how "international" they are. And when't the last time anywhere outside North America had an actual PPV? When they did Mania in Canada they sung O Canada. Its fine. They gave London one of the big 4 and they feel the time difference killed the buyrate. They have a reason. With the network its different but for big shows they want their biggest audience to see it the easiest.

Last actual PPV outside the US was Breaking Point in 2009 (Montreal, Quebec)

It wasn't 'Oh screw the world. America rules.'

They can get around any jingoism issues by staging the tournament in the US one year, followed by a foreign location the next, and alternate it.

I don't remember it happening.

Knowing there is a good chance at least 25% of Team World will be Canadian ( possibly even half), I shall hope for a belated Canada Day miracle and Team World squashes those dirty Yanks.

Does Beast in the East count? Not really, Beast in the East and the like are glorified house shows. Last actual PPV outside the US was Breaking Point in 2009 (Montreal, Quebec) Even that is still a question given the move to 20 PPVs (and really 24 when you count Takeovers). It's clear by now in the post-brand split that WWE Network specials are going to be the way for the PPVs- and we saw both from Beast in the East and Takeover UK that the WWE Network specials can and will be in other countries- so this is changing a bit. As such, there would need to be that level of what would constitute "a PPV" and not "a glorified house show", which is both the question for what type of big event would count "a foreign Pay-Per-View"...and invariably will end up in "Wrestlemania in Wembley or it's a worthless house show!"

I don't hate it. If the WWE was truly pushing it and make it big and time it around the Olympics, it would be cool.
You have four teams of people from different countries. At the end USA is in a draw against another team. Then USA lose a member. At the last minute you hear a familar song and Kurt Angle come in to save the day! I'm not American and I would get shills.
But given the lazy booking of the last 10 years they won't do that. It's gonna be one night and that's it.

Even though jingoism irritates me and I'm not a patriotic person, I have no issue with this really. It's just a gimmicky way to kill a large chunk of time and have some fun on a Raw where no one's going to be watching and no one will remember this thing in a week.
That being said, I do expect about 40 million rounds of, "Shut the f*** up," directed toward JBL.
