So, the Australian team doesn't want to live at the Rio Olympic village, citing it as "uninhabitable". I mean, the rooms look okay, except for the cheap dressers, military-grade cots, cramped dimensions, and the fact that not every room will have running water. So, what does the mayor of Rio de Janiero say about this, considering that he's been relatively oblivious to the blunders his city has done? He wants to offer them a kangaroo. I read when they tested the water pressure by flushing toilets on different floors at once, water started running down the walls. Nah, we straight, brah. Where are the Carnival gals? At least that would help to put the fire out. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36929355

These games should be the final straw that pushes every country to demand sweeping changes to the Olympics, like switching to a rotation of cities that have the infrastructure in place to host the Olympics (London, Beijing, Sydney, American city (Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Atlanta) and one other city). Screw having to build new facilities every time.

Screw having to build new facilities every time. I think a pool of 2-3 from Asia, Europe and North America + Sydney. So you can do a 40 year roatation without hitting the same place to keep it fresh but it will be established cites. Asia- Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul Europe- London, Paris, Rome? NA- LA, Montreal, Boston

This is sounding more and more like one of those comedy films where things just keep going wrong.

I'm going to change what I originally said, it's going to be more than one country that just leaves during the Olympics because they're sick of all the shit.

I wonder if the opening ceremony is going to include everyone on every team flipping the bird and screaming out "f*** you IOC!", in unison.

Man, f*** a medal. If I'm a swimmer or something, getting sick from drinking the damn water is an automatic "nah, I'm straight brah" category

I will give them credit for entertaining me before the thing even starts.
I was also going to say it's the TNA of the Olympics, but if that were the case. they wouldn't have any issues with people turning up on drugs.

Some people are saying this was the last opportunity the city had in dealing with their water crisis, and instead, things got much worse, as most of the money devoted to the programs wound up in components of "the Movement" while viral levels remain extremely high in most areas. Really sucks for those living there due to how contaminated their drinking water is.

I saw a news report on the BBC about the quality of the water in Rio's harbour. Sewage floating right up to the beach. If I was an Olympic sailor, I might just give this trip a miss.

At least the sailors have a chance of avoiding the water, but there is an open water 10km swimming marathon taking place. If that was my event, I think I'd "accidentally" get on the wrong plane and have a nice summer holiday somewhere else.

And if you are one of the lucky ones with a working toilet, it flushes directly out the side of the building onto the slums
