Now that was more what I was hoping for. Been saying the key to a great Sonic game is play Generations and make something exactly like it, appears to be what they've done.

So basically, Sonic Generations 2. Would've liked to see gameplay, but the fact that it's a sequel to the best sonic game in the past decade makes me pumped.

Sonic 17 is for the NX but Sonic Mania isn't? Kind of suck since I'm more interested in Sonic Mania then 17. Atleast the people behind that game proven they can make a good sonic game while Sonic Team still has alot to do before earning back any respect from fans. Good luck Sega, hope you learn your mistakes from Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom.

The fact they're taking their time and not rushing them for the anniversary is a good show that yes, they have learned the biggest reasons those two are what they are.

Still doesn't mean they truly learn their leason. After 06, we got Color and Generation then Sonic Boom. Proving that SEGA can and will fall back into their old habit if their not careful.

I think Lizuka just means Sega's biggest f***ups have tended to be when they rush projects out that aren't done yet. Sonic 06 got pushed out the door as a launch title when it wasn't finished, and Boom seemed to get much the same treatment. Sonic Boom would have probably not been great, anyway, but a few months would have certainly helped to make for a less shoddy product.

Man we think alike. The only difference is our taste in wrestlers. Oh well, 1 out of many isn't bad. But yes, it needs Sally. "But I'm Sonic's main love in-" F*** OFF, AMY!!!! SONSALLY FOR LIFE!!!! *gives Clash the 2 Sweet hand gesture.* I personally love Amy, I just don't ship her with Sonic. And more than anything, I'm a fan of Sonic and Sally's friendship and teamwork. But chemistry wise, if he has to have a steady girlfriend, Sally makes the most sense to me. The entire point is to not ship her with Sonic. He's really never been attracted to her even as far back as CD

I've been a Sonic fan since birth, and just recently re-played Generations on 3DS and Mega Collection on GameCube. This really excites me. I was hoping they'd do something for the 25th Anniversary.

For ages people have been saying "Get Christian Whitehead/Taxman to do a brand new Sonic game" and "We liked Generations, do more of that". For both to come true is fantastic, and hopefully it'll be a shot in the arm for the franchise. If they'd just fire RubyEclipse from their social media division, all my hopes for Sonic would be coming true.

I do have only one reservation about this. I know their record has been spotty, but, I don't want this to be the end of 3D Sonic games as a whole. They have had a really troubled time with it, but they do have their fans, for the good ones, of course. I don't want those people to get left out in the cold. I guess they're going to have to wait on Yooka-Laylee and how that turns out, to see what the future is like for 3D platformers.
It's not what Sonic needs right now, it needs to get to basics, but I want them to return to it eventually for the sake of those fans. They deserve a good Sonic game for all of the patience and loyalty they've shown the brand. Like, even if it's not really my thing (Never got on with the Adventure games, they tried to do too much, though I enjoyed Sonic Colors), I want them to get the game they keep hoping for.

eh, how many times have we been here now? This is the game that is totally going to bring the Sonic Franchise back to it's glory days only to end up being a massive disappointment. I go in with low expectations with the possibility I could end up pleasantly surprised. The 2D version looks sweet though

The supposed cycle doesn't even work for Mania, because the record for the Taxman/Stealth games has been mild interest followed by overwhelming positivity.
Sonic CD was well recieved because it was a well made port which included widescreen and the addition of Tails.
Sonic 1 was well recieved for all of the above, along with including Knuckles, which S&K didn't do on the Mega Drive.
Sonic 2 was well recieved for all of the above, and the surprise announcement of one of the game's most infamous death pits leading to a fully functioning Hidden Palace, the first new official 16 bit level in decades.
So the cycle suggests that this will look good, and turn out to have even more awesome easter eggs we never would have imagined.
