Damnit, that's the second time I've read Shawn Mendes as Shawn Michaels and got confused. Also, now that it's December, I feel it's necessary to post this: I keep thinking of Sam Mendes, the film director.

Yeah, The first 2/3rds of 'Update' tonight was them shitting on Trump Yes, regardless on what you believe -- and I am pretty apolitical -- enough is enough. It's coming off as petty and, well, soapboxy. Not to mention out of touch when you keep making like the result of an election is a national tragedy...then again I am usually one for giving most anyone one chance. I finally visited the WTC last weekend, it kind of makes you remember real tragedy. People using the 9/11 Mood/Voice about this is akin to wrestling announcers using hushed tones to sell a worked shoot injury. But in all fairness, SNL has really thrived when making fun of politicians. Going back to Chevy and Dan doing Ford and Carter. Hartman and Carvey as Reagan and H.W. Bush. Then they had a field day with Clinton, Perot, and Bob Dole. Same with Ferrell as W. But Trump is like an original character. Dude is a comedy goldmine. They may not like his ideas or policies, but for their jobs as comedy writers and satirists, they have to be thrilled he won.

Add the fact SNL was making fun of Trump waaaaaaaay before he even got into politics. They'd be making fun of him if he were still a business man/reality show host. He just happens to be the President of the USA...so the jokes might be just a tad political now. Someone said "it's petty"...it's not, it's personal. It's also brought in some HUUUUGGGE ratings this season so it's working. All that being said...different strokes for different folks. I can see how it would exhaust some people. Anyone think this could be John Cena's breakout moment? A really good showing on SNL helped launch The Rock back in the day.

Guys, don't forget, Emma Stone and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Mendes in about an hour's time!

Or as I know him, the slightly-less-hot Mendes. Though I'm feeling sleepy and I got a wedding tomorrow, might just tape it and watch later.

Or as I know him, the slightly-less-hot Mendes. I'm honestly unfamiliar with him. Love me some Emma Stone, though! This has been well-documented.

It is surreal to hear Darrell Hammond say John Cena's name. It's gonna be even more surreal when the Face runs Lorne Michaels's place next week!

Funny show so far. The candle skit was the only one that didn't really get a laugh from me.
I thought it was cool that Melissa got to shine in a skit.

I agree with Rican, the candle sketch fell flat. The rest of the show was a lot of fun, though.
Emma Stone's time is up, though, and Cena's time is now. When SNL returns next week, the franchise lays Kenan Thompson down for the 3 second tan and we'll all declare that LIVE FROM NEW YORK...THE CHAMP IS HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE!

Did anyone notice the picture of Eddie Edwards and Grado on the wall in algebra/hot dog sketch? And they said TNA would never go mainstream...
