Jovial cookie eating and cheer leader toe touching Orton or cocaine Orton are the best versions. Of the ones listed though I would say crazy heel legacy era Orton is the best although it wasn't nearly as good as it should've been. The main problem was the inconsistency in how they booked the character as one week they would book him as this dangerous badass psychopath that should be feared and then the next week they would just book him as your typical chicken heel acting scared and running away in fear from whoever he was feuding with at the time whether it be Cena or Triple H or even 40 year old non wrestler Shane McMahon in that infamously awful segment with the phantom punches. It's something that could've been special and more remembered but ended up just coming off very ordinary despite having flashes of brilliance here and there.

Randy Orton in the build-up to WM25.
Handcuffing HHH to the ropes, DDT'ing & then kissing Stephanie right in front of Hunter. Nothing will top that for me. he was tapping into something we hadn't seen since Stone Cold's lack of giving a f***.
Had they strapped the rocket to him then he could have been a vicious monster heel, but HHH cooled him down and it took him awhile to recover.

Original 2007 punting people in the head crazy Orton. I was so annoyed when Cena beat him at Summerslam that year. I was waiting for the FU into RKO counter that was such an obvious spot, but as usual Superman won. Randy Orton in the build-up to WM25. Handcuffing HHH to the ropes, DDT'ing & then kissing Stephanie right in front of Hunter. Unforgiven 04 and Rumble 2005. Ending the "Age of Orton" at Backlash a month after Randy was riding high from his WM 24 win. Then AGAIN at WM 25 at a time when Orton was white hot as a heel. Triple H is still one of my favorites, but God...what an insecure f*** he can be.

WWE have wasted most of his career trying to make him into Stone Cold Steve Orton.

When he had that disorder and kicked folk in the head, that were smart.
p.s. what is cocaine orton? I often go through months/years not really watching WWE, he had a gimmick he was a cokehead?

As another said, my favourite Orton was the one who wasn't on tv. I hated him most during the punting stage. Everyone seems to think it was fantastic but he never seemed to get his comeuppance. I get that the punts were more to write off people who needed time off to deal with an injury but none of them ever came back and got vengeance. Ideally we should have had several of the people he punted jump him, beat him down and then take turns punting him. That might have made it worthwhile. Instead I was just left wondering why in a company with authority figures who constantly insert themselves into the picture, no one gave a crap about a guy injuring their stars on purpose. As a storyline it made zero sense.
When Jericho made his first return to save us from Randy I was so thrilled...until he didn't.

Current Orton. He seems like he is having fun and is fully invested.

The build to WM25 was the perfect time to bump Randy to the next level, and let him run with that character. I guarantee it would have been more fun to watch than the over a decade of meh I got from Cena.
