If the Dewey stuff you're referring to is him keep getting shut down when trying to announce his news then I thought it was pretty obvious that was for comedic effect. I've watched the first 3 episodes. The usual harmless reality family conflict. Nothing groundbreaking. Yeah, it's pretty much your standard Gene Simmons' Family Jewels/The Osbournes/Hogan Knows Best/Chrisley knows best formula, where 80% of what's on screen is scripted, including character moments & conflicts. It's about as real as Total Divas, in that regard, except here, I like Mick & Noelle, which makes Holy Foley infinitely more watchable.

It's so scripted that it's cringeworthy. They're a very weird family. I always heard Foley was a bit of a douche so I'm not shocked. Also, anybody that sings Christmas songs outside of December is a loser. What if it's in November around Thanksgiving!?

If it helps, I felt the same way after reading Hardcore Diaries. It took a little while, but the Foley I know came out on some occasions soon after that - namely a video package TNA made while Mick was champion. Reality shows are heavily scripted and edited, and from the sounds of it WWE's even more so than anywhere else. I wouldn't trust the depiction of Mick on this show any more than I trust the depiction of anybody on Total Divas. I hope it's mostly scripted but if it is what's the point of showing that the wrestler that everyone on a whole pretty much thinks is the sweetest person ever is really an asshole. Makes no damn sense to me. Like watching that legit depressed me. Because everyone on TV is an asshole these days. And everyone need to have conflict. If you're just a legit nice person with no issues, then you are to be ignored as there's no potential for you, or there's obviously something wrong with you and you need to be torn down and destroyed.

If Mick really and truly was that much of a dick, we would have known about it a lot sooner. The appeal of Mick has always been his sincerity and transparency. The reality show struck me as the Foley family acting out Foley fiction.

I can think of multiple reasons. 1. WWE are idiots and don't understand what regular humans consider to be good and bad. Consider most of their babyfaces and how they behave on the main shows. 2. Reality shows exist to have conflict. Mick previously had a pilot shot for a reality show for another channel that didn't get picked up because they were too happy (according to him) so they may well have manufactured a shitload more conflict for the show. For example, isn't one story on the show Noelle wanting to become a wrestler - but wasn't that common knowledge years ago that she had started training? Yup, in fact he tells Noelle that he'd make sure nobody would ever train her. I wouldn't get too upset. This jawn seems heavily scripted. It was shot over this summer, but Noelle training to be a wrestler has been a thing for a while. Like a year I feel like. Also, the Dewey having no job thing, I feel like Mick got him a job writing for WWE like a year ago. Lastly, I doubt Frank shows up to dinner in full makeup. He is weird, but probably not that weird.

I love how whenever Frank is on screen, his name plate is "Boyfriend/Part-Time Clown"

Total Divas is dismissed as a scripted mess and not to take anything serious.
Holy Foley makes Mick Foley evil and abusive to his kids. Did Dave Meltzer make this thread, lol.

Man, I don't like to be negative, but this show is all kinds of contrived awful.

I watched until episode 3. I never really got the mean vibe about Foley, and by episode 2 he was doing pretty nice stuff for them.
However, this should not be compared to Total Divas. Holy Foley is possibly the most contrived and unrealistic feeling reality show I have ever watched. Never once did I feel like I was watching anything remotely close to reality. It was enjoyable and mindless, but super fake feeling.
Also, I am surprised someone as thrifty as Foley would allow their wife to spend a lot of money on plastic surgery. I hate to sound mean, but Collette is ridiculous looking.

I remember her being surprisingly good looking in the late 90s.

One of her eyebrows sits at a point about 2 inches above the other. It is pretty crazy.

Is this a show I should avoid? Mick isn't really an all time favorite of mine, I'm not too familiar with Noelle, and I met Clown Guy at WM 29 Axxess, with Lesnar Guy. Of the 2, Lesnar Guy was way more friendly to fans. I watched the first one and I'm debating whether or not to watch anymore. For me personally the way he treats his kids is super triggering. I was expecting funny Foley antics I got none of that and it's actually tarnishing my view of Mick a lot. I watched all 5. without giving away spoilers. Something happens to dewey in the second episode that makes Mick see he was hard on his kids. then he becomes super dad again.

I have watched the first 3 episodes. The show is fine. The kids that he is the hardest on are his adult kids, who neither has a job at the beginning of the show when he is the hardest on them. There hasn't been much with him being hard on the younger two. I have no problem with this.
It is in no way a great show or possibly a good show, however, it is far from the bottle of the barrel in terms of shows. It is highly average and very scripted. I have seen some complaints about the all the WWE stuff and product placement. If you have watched any reality show, they blur out anything their isn't a sponsorship for. It makes 100% sense that if given the option of wearing a WWE shirt or a plan shirt, most of the family would wear the WWE shirt. It is like complaining about all the Under Armor clothes people on the Challenge wear.

I've only watched the first episode and it may be the most scripted "reality" show I've ever seen.
His two youngest kids are awesome, they should just make a show based on those two.

I did not call him evil or abusive. I said he was an asshole and the way he acted with his children in the first episode was triggering TO ME. Mostly because of shit in my own past. Please don't put words in my mouth. Thank You.
