This was the first UFC PPV for most of my friends and they were baffled by the whole thing, but they came away liking Stipe and wonder why I like Overeem because they thought he was just being a heel. Would they watch another one No, haha. There's one or two who have been slowly watching PPVs only with me, nothing else, and they'll stick with it, but the rest said they probably wouldn't.

The Rock was treated as a demigod above the entire WWE roster and given a main event. Punk's fight was not the main event of this card, or even the co-main event; additionally Joe Rogan was given free reign to shit talk Punk, and while Punk may have taken a spot he also helped get a spot on the card for an unknown like Gall. Rock is also on a level of celebrity that Punk is incapable of reaching. Not to mention that he already had to earn his spot at the top of a wrestling card, in an industry where no one ever really "ages out" in terms of story.

Rubbing those hands together hoping that Hendo murks Bisping just like he did at 100 and gets the strap.

What a weird ass card. Those last three fights were about as bizarre as it gets in UFC. I feel like I should be disappointed but I can't bring myself to be. Travis Browne calling time out, Reem running away and then calling foul and asking for an instant replay...which he actually gets, the entire Werdum debacle, and to top it all of, CM Punk fighting. All topped off by Overeem doing his best Usain Bolt impression. This wasn't a "good card" but it damn sure entertained.

All the wrestling guys being salty on Twitter, yeah appreciate the man for trying but don't hide the fact that he got murked. When the only good thing that they speak about is your speech maybe just retire punk.
This fight was an embarrassment, punk was even denied a fighters license, and I'm sure the UFC did something so that he could get one.
That's it no more mma fighting for him, guy is almost 40 and had a full camp, no more second chances. He's gonna get seriously hurt next time or worse.

So to recap the pro wrestle-y stuff I saw tonight:
Bethe Correia beats hometown girl on a losing streak Jessica Eye, celebrates before the decision, drawing ire. After she's awarded the win, she ignores Eye and rides on her coach's shoulders before cutting a promo claiming Eye was afraid of her the entire time. She then made a heart symbol with her hands to a chorus of boos. Heelness defined.
Jéssica Andrade beats Joanne Calderwood and celebrates by climbing the cage and making the same heart symbol that Correia used earlier. Stable confirmed.
Gall squashes the debuting CM Punk who appears to have the Mikey Whipwreck gimmick.
Fabrico Werdum gets out to a quick start on Travis Browne. Browne slows down the action by cheating and doing something that would typically end a fight, but the referee is tricked. Browne tries to sneak in offense but Werdum is the babyface and shines the entire fight. Afterwards, Browne's corner coach/manager Edmond "The Brain" Tarverdyan runs his mouth and The Immortal Werdum throws up the big boot.
In the main event, the champion Miocic's shine is cut off by the challenger Overeem who locks in a rest hold. Miocic powers out of the hold to the crowd's approval and chases his opponent, literally as Overeem draws heat for run and gun tactics. They go back and forth with hard shots before Miocic hits his finish for an obviously clean win. However, to keep his heat, Overeem claims that Miocic tapped to his headlock and when proof is shown to him otherwise, he continues to claim it.
And don't get me started on all the promos...daggone
I'm very interested to see what happens next wee...oh...never mind.

What are your feelings towards Overeem getting drug busted in the past? Because you ripped Lesnar pretty hard. TBH, I'm not 100% sure of what Overeem's history is, so it may be comparing apples to oranges. Well, for me, literally EVERYONE was doing it back then, so it was a level playing field. Your roided up guy vs my roided up guy. Not that I think that's the way it should be, but in a way, it was "fair". It used to just be an intelligence test more than anything else, and there are a lot of stories about it even being encouraged. After USADA stepped in and ostensibly cleaned up the sport (which I am absolutely behind), I take doping way more seriously. The playing field is no longer level. If that makes sense. Makes perfect sense. Barry Bonds remains my all time favorite baseball player for very much the same reasons.

This fight card looked more like a WWE show than a WWE show looks like a WWE show.

Rubbing those hands together hoping that Hendo murks Bisping just like he did at 100 and gets the strap. I honestly think he can. Would be nuts to see Hendo finally get that elusive UFC Title in 2016 when he's pretty much shown all signs of being done.

I think the best the UFC could do with Punk is find another pro wrestler in his weight division that's willing to do a camp and book them together.

CM Punk: I'm just really, really proud of myself. I lost, it sucks. And it was lopsided. And it's upsetting, but I know I'm better than that
Sure Punk
