We had this same thread the same week as the Time Machine segment. Yes they have since. It happened around February.

I wish they go with the Enzo/Cass rivalry already. Have New Day turn back heel, and lose the titles to Enzo and Cass.

There's still some redeeming factors with The New Day but the spark they once had is no doubt gone. I'm more upset with how they have made The Bullet Club a flat out joke now. *leans in and whispers* They were a borderline joke in NJPW anyway

I think them and The Club trying to out funny each other every week has made it worse.

I can almost promise you that what sank them was creative getting too involved and "protecting" their overness. New Day was at its best when it was three dudes who had kind of slipped under creative's radar doing shit in Youtube only segments and catching some attention. They salvaged a dead end gimmick by turning heel and becoming amazing. But when they started selling merch and actually succeeding, WWE stepped back in, as WWE does, and when Vince likes an act, he runs it into the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason they don't seem as energetic about it anymore is because a lot of the jokes they're telling have been handed down from creative, because a lot of it doesn't even seem like the style of humour we saw from them when they were great. It seems like WWE humour.

youtu.be/cHucUysl0v0This video shows that they're still entertaining, just not on Raw. They need a spark, definitely, but it's not like they've completely lost it.

Months ago. It went from something where you never knew what they were going to do to where you always know exactly what they're going to do. Facts. They went from being the best part of the show for me to now when they come on I'll change the channel until their segment is over. I do too...I honestly can not stomach another goofy promo segment with them for the 4345th time.

It's like the goal of the E is to find something that works and then rest on its laurels

The act has gotten old, but they are just still too much of a merchandising gold mine for WWE to end it. And they have been on top of the tag division for long enough now that WWE doesn't have any other tag team acts that look like a real threat to them as champions, particularly with how many times they moved over to Smackdown.

They might have a few good months left but that type of humor has a limited shelf life reminds me a bit of the New Age Outlaws (who stayed together a bit too long) and all three have potential as singles stars, I think as soon as Raws tag division gets some meat they will disband. Raw does seem to be a bit slower than Smackdown in creating tag teams so maybe TND will be intact come WM but after that the Revival, a resigned Hardys (broken or not), the dirty heels (good way to introduce both of them) and more (maybe a cheeky young bucks signing) will free them up for singles runs (Big E will be fine, not sure about Kofi or Xaiver). But at the moment they are the tag division, especially as there are hints that Big Cass might be getting a solo push (he wasn't in the four way for nothing!).
Having said that, wouldn't be surprised if they lost the titles to a Rollins/Reigns odd couple team to advance the main event storyline.

The thing is I don't know if I will be able to take them seriously as singles stars after this.

As I said elsewhere they needed to drop the titles months ago.
I also agree that they need to treat something as a threat.

They've become a more over the top tag version of what people disliked about John Cena, namely the constant joking and refusal to take things seriously. But hey at least if they feuded with Enzo/Cass then that would be putting all the crap in one segment that I could FF to get past. For me personally I'm just done with guys doing these dated Attitude Era style 5 minute promos before the match, especially when it is watered down and unfunny material.

I liked the Wyatt feud for the simple reason Woods took it seriously. The bunker stuff may have been WWE cashing quickly on Final Deletion, but it really worked and gave New Day an edge to them that I thought would translate well into a Gallows/Anderson feud. Levelling up for the fall months and giving the tag division something juicier.
To quote Vince
"That did'nt exactly happen"

I don't know about jumping the shark, but that segment on RAW was written by something with the intelligence of a sea cucumber.

First they sucked, then were amazing, now they suck again. It's the circle of Raw.

It gets asked a lot (out of curiosity I searched the forum and found 3 'new day shark jumping' threads), but they still seem to come back from every horrible segment with something redeemable. Obviously they're not as entertaining as they used to be, but that's almost expected now that they're super over babyfaces. The fans seem to still go crazy for them, so their goal now has shifted from trying to get over to just giving the crowd what they want and selling merch. There's really not much more you can do with the gimmick (especially considering it had to be salvaged in the first place).
