If they didn't take a subtle shot at him, I'd almost be disappointed. It's wrestling for crying out loud and CM Punk has certainly taken his fair share of shots at them.
Now if a match gets added to Backlash that's a MC Junk vs Mickie Bourke in a Lions Den Match that features two impersonators, maybe I'd feel differently.

Sidebar: did anyone see the weigh-in? He's no longer "skinny-fat", so there's that...

They should troll the crowd and play his theme again. save that for the next Raw in Chicago Too bad Ryback did not stay a little longer. Im sure the Big Guy would have loved to take a (not so) subtle jab at his good ol'buddy Phil.

There is no upside to them doing so while it's fresh in people's minds, it makes them look petty in a way that will get sympathy for Punk. I'm sure they will bring it up once the dust has settled, having heel commentators bring it up when his name gets chanted in Chicago.

I don't see what the point would be. Punk left the WWE two years ago, and the company has moved on into what many would argue is a more successful, entertaining period. They lost nothing when he left, and I imagine the company is a better place to be without his dickishness. Of course, this is the WWE, and they're nothing if not petty and childish, so I'm sure there will be one or two sly references to whatever happens. As big a fan I am of Punk as a wrestler , I agree with every thing you said .

I'd love to see WWE mock him, just because I detest Phil the person (though I love Punk the character...he may have that dichotomy greater than any wrestler I know), but I doubt it will happen.
I take it back, the post of the Trump/Rosie and Lakers/Nuggets crap has caused me to erase that doubt.

You're talking about one of the most petty companies and owners on Earth, of course they're going to take shots at him if he gets destroyed. They'll probably take shots at him if he loses in a hard fought fight, that's just how they operate.

Looking back on the heel team, it's weird to think that the bedazzled fedora wearing guy became WWE Champion and the two guys standing next to him who look like stars never did.

Wouldn't that be admitting one of their longest reigning champions lost?

Ragging on Punk isn't the same if Ryback isn't the one doing it.

On a side note regarding Trump/Rosie, note they used the best photo they could find for Donald & the worst actual photo for O'Donnell.
Not only aren't they subtle, you know who they don't mind crapping on.

I'm not sure Vince dislikes Punk as so much he's probably super jelly. We know that if not for his doctors and family telling him it's a crazy, reckless idea that Vince would make a deal with Dana White to be the first 70 year old to have a match in the Octagon.

Hulk Hogan has proven time and again to be a horrible, horrific and terrible human being on many levels. Phil Brooks is just an anti-social asshole. I know, your opinion and all that...but...man.
