What exactly is behind this huge push for Conan the Barbarian?

What exactly is behind this huge push for Conan the Barbarian? Marvel recently reacquired the Conan license and is trying to capitalize on it for however long that license exists? Last month saw the release of a new Conan book that is penned by Jason Aaron. Another new Conan book is also on the horizon, I think. I heard Gerry Duggan will be writing it? Marvel also just put out an omnibus collection of its 70s Conan stories. Volume 2 of that run is due soon, and Marvel is also putting out omnibuses of Savage Sword of Conan. While I'm not the biggest fan of 'swords and sandals' comics, I think it would make more sense to put Conan on Aaron's 1,000,00 BC Avengers than on a stabby team with Wolverine and Venom. But strike while the iron is hot, Marvel. If anything, I hope that Marvel is successful enough with Conan that DC will try to follow suit by releasing some Mike Grell Warlord material (which isn't exactly Conan-esque, but close enough for me).

And it's not like there wasn't a bunch of conan comics coming out before Marvel got the licence either. They are getting more press because Marvel have it now

And a big reason of the push is that during the original Marvel Conan run, a LOT of the ancient history of the MU was dictated by and entrenched in what had happened in the hundreds of Conan comics they had published over 30 or so years.

I’m not saying that doesn’t seem believable but Bleeding Cool keeps talking about a Marvel Universe reboot and have done for the past 5 years or so and I don’t see any reboot. The Marvel reboot already happened. No one noticed. That was with Secret Wars, right? I noticed (too?) that lots of dead people just came back to life again with virtually no explanation.

Both writers (and books I'm guessing) involved in the Leviathan event that Bendis & Maleev are spearheading this summer. And the stories/creator lineups for DETECTIVE #1000 have been released. Snyder & Capullo - introducing the Detective Guild {Spoiler}{Spoiler}featuring, amongst others, Ralph & Sue Dibny and Vic Sage Bendis & Maleev Kevin Smith & Jim Lee Warren Ellis & Becky Cloonan Dini & Dustin Nguyen - a henchman docu-story Priest & Neal Adams Dennis O'Neil & Steve Epting - a sequel to There Is No Hope in Crime Alley from Detective #457 Tynion IV & Alvaro Martinez Johns & Kelley Jones King & Tony Daniel Tomasi & Mahnke - introducing the Arkham Knight extra art by Mikel Janin, Amanda Conner & Jason Fabok www.newsarama.com/43953-detective-comics-1000-s-full-line-up-unveiled.html

Holy damn hell. So Newsarama has a talky piece about HEROES IN CRISIS, wondering who done it. www.newsarama.com/44052-heroes-in-crisis-whodunnit-the-latest-on-the-leading-suspects.htmlBut in their article they link an image from BATMAN #50, and sure enough.....in plain yet hidden view..... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}SKEETS is there.
Booster's little robot pal, amidst the collection of Bane's cadre of villains and other folks who've been manipulating & messing with Batman since Tom King's run began. Was this known by folks before now? Even this article sorta glosses over it casually.

In case anyone missed it - which seems to be the case because I *still* can't find much on it in social media - {Spoiler}Cobra-La returned in a backup story in last week's GI JOE YEARBOOK 2019. It seems like "Infinite Cobra" (of which this story was a prologue) is a project that's happening later this year ( maybe? can't find any info on it beyond this 4 page back up story) that, {Spoiler} 32 years later, picks up on the events of GI JOE THE MOVIE.

That being said, as soon as the news broke about Batman #50, my first thought was that Bruce and Selina will likely make-up and then elope by issue #75 in a quiet to-do with immediate friends and family present to bear witness. Given the critical reception to #50, I can't see DC letting King draw out the Bat and Cat marriage for another 2 years. Once this issue comes out, I'll have to see if I have 'Carnac the Magnificent'd' this storyline. www.cbr.com/tom-king-teases-batman-75/

The Spider-Man newspaper strip ended this weekend, on March 17th. By Stan Lee, Alex Saviuk and Joe Sinnott. Sinnott, 92, who had retired from inking comics at Marvel in 1991 (his last work there being THE MIGHTY THOR) but worked on the strip for the next 28 years, officially retired on Sunday with the strip's demise. www.cbr.com/marvel-comics-joe-sinnott-retirement/

Wiccan and Hulkling of the Young Avengers are also guest starring in that Death's Head series.

Deaths Head was one of the few good titles from the 90s boom era of Marvel UK.

Marvel's 20th or 21st crossover event of 2019 (lol ) revisits the premise of ACTS OF VENGEANCE - pitting heroes against villains they've never faced before. This one's called ACTS OF EVIL. And to harken back to those fun ol' days (they were fun - though mainly because we were kids), this event will be spread across a series of annuals (like ATLANTIS ATTACKS and EVOLUTIONARY WAR) coming out this summer. www.bleedingcool.com/2019/04/16/marvel-brings-back-summer-annual-events-acts-of-evil/

[/quote] .......you're speaking of a thing I've heard of and have probably read, but (as with many instances as I continue on into my 40's) cannot quite place it. Oh, to be young again when I could remember everything at will...

Lethal day in Marvel comics yesterday........ {Spoiler}Uncanny X-Men brought back and did away with Joseph, the Magneto clone from the late '90s. And apparently Rahne Sinclair - Wolfsbane - who decided to leave the team earlier in the issue, was apparently killed off panel with Dani Moonstar sensing her death at issue's end.
And in War of the Realms, Brunnhilde - the Valkyrie - is slaughtered quite convincingly by Malekith. That last one will have a follow-up:

You know, if they'd just done that in the first place, I feel like they'd have saved themselves a lot of headaches.
